Circle of Love
she said softly, “I’m here. You don’t have to carry everything on your own.”
The kindness in her voice almost broke me. I nodded, but the tears I had been holding back began to well up, threatening to spill over.
I blinked them away, hoping she wouldn’t notice, hoping she would believe my lies just a little longer.
“Thanks, Chloe,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “I know.”
We stood there in silence for a while, the cool night air doing little to ease the turmoil in my heart.
I could feel her eyes on me, still searching for answers I couldn’t give just yet.
