Hope’s POV The sky weeps and it floods the earth, causing the once-burning flames to smoulder, dispersing the suffocating smoke. I stand under the rain and with eyes closed, I lift my head up, part my lips and catch the raindrops that fall into my open mouth. The raindrop is salty. That is when I realise that I am tasting a mixture of rain with my own tears. Tears.

The raindrops pattered merrily on the stone floor through the grapevine. Fate had given me back everything I deserved after the pain I went through.

When I reached the trash can by the school gate, I took out the teddy bear, then nothing more than an ordinary toy, and threw it away without a second thought. In that moment, I felt lighter than ever before. I could clearly feel it. My luck, like a dried-up riverbed finally receiving water again. It flowed back into me, gentle but steady, like a stream running through every part of my body. I was no longer the unlucky person who could not even drink water without choking. Later, through my own hard work, I graduated at the top of my major and received an offer from a world-leading company. My life finally broke free from every shadow and returned to the right path.

The atmosphere seemed to shimmer and dance, as if nature itself held its breath, waiting to witness the outcome of this extraordinary moment. For what seemed like an eternity, I remained in that state, fully immersed in the magic that surged around me. And then, as if responding to a silent command, the sky above us opened up, releasing a gentle rain upon the land. A great lightning struck through the night sky and dark clouds started to fill the sky. A drop of water trickled my face. I wiped it with my hand and began to realize something. "Rain!" I exclaimed joyously. The thunder grew louder and the rain suddenly poured down. I ran inside with excitement.

I fell to my knees in the mud. The cold rain washed the soot from my face. Stephen let go of Elias. Elias stayed facedown in the dirt crying. He was not crying for his empire. He was crying because he realized he was truly completely alone. The sky just opened up. It was like the whole valley was screaming. It was so hot and dry for long. Then the rain came. The first drops were big and heavy like rocks hitting the ground. Then the sky just let go. The rain poured down. This was the Rain of Mercy like something out of a movie. The sound of the rain hitting the lodge was like a million little drums beating all at once.

Everything was terrible; the massive raindrops were like foreshadowing how the world would end, and how it would take them, lifeless and damp.
