I went on in a spur of excitement. "It's a thriller and mystery novel about a detective who's trying to track down a serial killer. So many twists and cliffhangers. Total page-turner." I giggled.

“Yup. It is. All the killings so far have been on the outskirts of town so I wouldn’t be too worried. Just for safety’s sake though, I don’t want you venturing out too far with your friends, alright.” Georgia nodded even though she never did any ‘venturing with friends’ aside from going to the mall or hanging out at local coffee shops. The teenagers of Grayston County, Milwaukee were usually too obsessed with having their noses buried in smartphones to ever be like the rugged, outdoor-loving folks many of their parents were. “Sure, dad. It tickled her mind just like how science experiments did. It was a puzzle for her, a puzzle that was screaming and begging to be solved. However, she knew that it was different for murder cases. It was much more complicated.

Jay has been crying the whole time all by himself but then the thought of Anna struck his mind and his head jerks up. "Anna" he mumbles aloud and Nicole and Brad squint at him. “It’s true. We can’t trust anyone.” A long air of heavy silence fell once more. They only ate and relieved themselves of the worries. This is a time for nourishment and not anxiety. But the backs of their mind knew that the danger is still very real. Someone is plotting something somewhere, waiting for the right moment in time. And soon, they’ll all be six feet under. “I have an idea,” said Agatha. “Let’s go mystery hunting. You know, like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew?” The two only responded in blinks, feeling like the idea was too preposterous.

That right there is the only reason he wasnÕt buying into the idea that she was hiding something, that and the fact that theyÕd found nothing to confirm such suspicions. I leaned forward slightly. “Try The Silent Corner, it’s about secrets that change everything.” He nodded, brows furrowed, then murmured, “Secrets change everything.” The bell jingled again. A teenager, headphones around his neck, glanced nervously at the counter. “Uh, do you have any fantasy? Like with dragons?”

A single streetlamp flickered near the path to the lake, and I kept my eyes fixed straight ahead, refusing to look at the water. I walked faster. My list was growing.
