“I really mean it... I’m grateful you saved me from Dax.” As expected, he didn’t respond right away. He never does whenever I try to thank him. But that’s fine. At this point, I don’t even expect a reaction anymore. It’s enough for me just to say it, to let him know, in my own way, how truly thankful I am. “I’m a busy man. If the chaos caused by the human sacrifice hadn’t reached me, I wouldn’t have saved you.” I gave a faint smile and nodded, accepting his blunt honesty. “Still… it happened. And I’m still here. All in one piece.” I chuckled.

Vaughn Keiran turns to face me with an amused look on his face after I thank him. “Say what now?” His brows are creased and he's acting like I just committed a forbidden crime. I told him thank you. “I just told you thank you, Keiran. Thanks for your help. I'm not as selfish as you and don't know how to appreciate someone at the right time.” I tell him, stretching out my words. We are enemies, but that doesn't change the fact that he saved me.
