Aria POV "Competitors, enter the arena!" My stomach twisted so hard I almost doubled over. This was it. The Trial of Strength. My first real test. And I was about to walk in there with a wolf that nobody had seen for three hundred years. No pressure. No pressure at all. I walked through the gates with the other competitors. The arena was massive. A huge circle of dirt surrounded by seats that went up and up into the sky. Hundreds of people filled those seats. Maybe thousands. All of them here to watch us fight.

POV: Thelma The arena was a circle of ancient stones, each one carved with runes that glowed in the gathering darkness. Magic crackled in the air, creating an invisible barrier that sealed us inside. No one could interfere. No one could help. I stood at the edge with Theo, both of us forced to watch as others fought for our freedom. My hands were clenched so tight my nails drew blood from my palms. Xavier stood on the opposite side of the arena with Luna and Kael, all three preparing for battle. He looked across at me one last time, and even without our mate bond fully intact, I felt his determination.

It was dusk, and laser torches had been lit, ringing the circular arena in bright flames. The aisles of the seating area were also lit, making the arena look like a sunken wheel with spokes of fire. In the center of the arena was an elevated series of grids shrouded in vines. Andrea blinked, squinting in the torchlight. Had that vine just moved?

At the center stood a circular battlefield. Scars from old battles marked the ground. This place had seen violence. A lot of violence. Orion stepped forward carefully. "I don't think we're supposed to admire the architecture." A loud roar interrupted him. The entire arena shook. Dust fell from the ceiling. Ariana immediately regretted entering. --- The siblings slowly walked into the arena. The moment they crossed the entrance, the door disappeared behind them. Stone sealed the exit completely. Of course it did. Because apparently every magical trial enjoyed trapping people.

The crowd gathered fast wolves hungry for blood, for drama. They filled the stands above, growling, whispering, watching. And waiting. Kael stood at the edge, arms folded. The council sat higher, judging with cold eyes. Aria stepped into the arena. Dust swirled at her feet. Her claws flexed. Her wolf paced.

"Lucian, what buttons did you push? Wait. Is… Is that remote real?" They stared, terrified, as the electric fence gates unlocked with a heavy thunk. One opened, then another, until a dozen or so predator enclosures snapped open on their own.

"Do you hear me?! I FORBID you to go!" The Alpha in me rose up then. "You FORBID me?! Who are you to FORBID me from doing anything?!" Arena looked as though I'd slapped her. "You're right," she mumbled. "Who am I? Who am I to you? Nothing, I guess. Just some incubator." "What nonsense are you talking about now?" I growled. Arena shook her head and stood. "Nothing. Nothing at all. Enjoy your battle, Alpha Castillas."
