Five years since that night on the forest road. I had woken two days later in a strange infirmary bed. Bandages wrapped tight around my abdomen. An IV line in my arm. Alpha Kai of Crestwood Pack had found the wrecked car during a routine border sweep. He had carried me to his healers himself. I remembered crying in his arms, begging him to save my baby first. But the look in his eyes told me everything I was too afraid to hear. There was no baby. The trauma cracked something open inside me. My wolf, sealed away since childhood by some magic I still didn't understand, finally woke. She was fierce and protective, flooding me with senses I'd never known I lacked.

I closed my eyes briefly and released a shaky breath. Thank the moon. But something in the healer’s face still looked wrong. My instincts sharpened immediately. “What happened?” I asked quietly. The healer looked uncomfortable now. “The awakening completed,” she said slowly. “But there were complications.” Fear settled heavily inside my chest. “What complications?” The healer glanced around the tent uncertainly before speaking again. “A connection formed during the awakening,” she explained. “The wolves who stepped into the echo’s light became linked together.” I frowned weakly. “Linked how?”

Duncan "The Awakening? What in the world is that?" I was thoroughly confused. "The Goddess has gifted you the powers, yes, but you still need to awaken them, Alpha Duncan. Open your eye, so to speak. You have to be willing to see the visions and open to the information they can bring." Shaking my head, I put the pen I had been idly toying with down on the desk and leaned back in my chair. "I am open to them. I already know that I need to use them. The Goddess was very clear about that."

Axel appeared put of pur closet walking over to Stars side of the bed getting in behind her. I watched him as he cuddled up to her and as if instinct she moved closer to him and onto his chest. She began snoring lightly again making me and my brother smile in awe at her. "Did they say anything about finding the old Alpha and Luna of that pack?" I turned back to my laptop quickly skimming through the rest of the long email as my eyes stopped, reading over exactly what I was looking for. "Council man Jasper says they have found Former Alpha Wade and former Luna Athena trying to escape to London but their passports went through the supernatural scanners and caught them, they currently have them

Maybe I was going to hell after all. The world collapsed into a swirl of shadows and silence, then I was nothing. Yet I was everything. I was neither here nor there. a man's furious voice rang out behind me. I turned to see a handsome man slap a document before me. It was a divorce agreement. Carissa Winton? Suzanne? Mrs. Faust? Weren't those the important characters in a popular stereotypical melodramatic romance novel I'd just read? So, I'd transmigrated into the body of Carissa Winton, the poor female lead of the novel. She'd aborted three children for the male lead, Lincoln Faust's sake, and was dying of bone cancer.

Chapter 1: The Awakening In the heart of the ancient forest of Eldoria, where shadows danced among the towering trees, a young woman stirred from a deep slumber. Her name was Elara, and she had been lost in a dreamless sleep for centuries, trapped within the embrace of an enchanted grove. As she opened her eyes, the world around her seemed both familiar and foreign. The air was thick with the scent of moss and magic, and the soft glow of twilight filtered through the canopy above. Memories flooded back to her, fragmented and elusive, like shards of a broken mirror.

But not a good one, this one, if I’m not mistaken, was a fallen Exalted and one of the worst at that. I needed to reach the waking world. Get a message to my brothers and my mate. I knew how to do it, but it wouldn’t be easy. That thing doesn’t want me around Archer anymore, and it would be watching a lot more closely from now on. Getting close enough to him to reach into his mind and pull myself through to his body, even for a few seconds, was going to be challenging, but it was something I had to do, and right now was the perfect time to do it. He was out cold, but for how long, I didn’t know. “Archer, hold on, I’ll get us out of this, I hope”, I silently prayed to whoever was listening.

That unusual scrutiny quickly caught Malik's attention. Trenton extended a hand in introduction. "This is my nephew, Thorgan Willowford. He's an Awakened. I brought him to meet you, officers." The moment they heard that Thorgan was an Awakened, the dozen or so soldiers in the hut froze mid-motion and stared at him in shock. The probability of finding an Awakened in the outside world was extremely low. Most people mutated and died. Only a small number experienced positive mutations and gained powerful abilities.

Darkness was sipping in and I heard their cruel laughter as they walked away while i tried to fight to keep my eyes open. Dead goddess! The more I tried to keep awake, the more my eyes kept dimming and closing as fast as they could, coupling with the pains that were hitting all over my body; I couldn't hold back any more. I couldn't reach out to my wolf so I was utterly powerless because I was just as weak physically as I couldn't connect with my wolf and as a dead person so I just let the darkness have it's way and consume my slowly. The next time I woke up, was due to the chatters and chitters from some people that were gathered around me.
