I had no idea where it had come from or what the fuck it was, but it felt too much like an internal lock snapping open. My vision exploded into color, then into nothing as I hit the ground. My fingers dug into the dirt without my permission. “No.” I muttered to myself in pain. “Not again. No, no, no…” “Rowan,” I hissed. “Stop. Stop this.” “Can’t,” he said cheerfully. “This is an activation cycle. You triggered the bloom with that delectable hatred earlier, but now? Now, we begin.” My whole chest seized as I felt another presence within me. This time it was big, coiling and hungry, as if something inside my blood was waiting for commands.

They were less than three days from Kade’s territory when the wave of hostile scents hit the convoy like a punch. Dozens. Maybe more. Wyatt swore. “Damn it—Marcus sent them. This is an execution squad.” Before Kade could react, shadows burst from the treeline—wolves large and vicious, eyes filled with the mindless hunger Marcus bred into his fighters. The air erupted into snarls, snapping jaws, and clashing bodies. “Form a circle!” Kade roared. “Protect Sera—GO!”

Then we saw them. Figures emerging from the trees. It takes one wild to know another and I was pretty sure that these were not wolves. Neither were they hybrids. These were pale, tall beings with black eyes and darkness swirling around them as if they were made of the night. I counted as fast as I could. There were at least thirty. Their leader stepped forward, and spoke, his voice like two stones grounding together. “We have come for the Awakened One. The child who carries the Primordial Spark.”

I only shook my head, stepping forward again. The divine light swirled around me. It licked my skin like fire, yet did not burn. My blood raced, my senses sharpened to edges I had never known. Priests collapsed outright, their bodies convulsing from the overload of power. Young omegas quivered, eyes wide with awe and fear, some screaming as the bond I carried surged beyond comprehension. Those once silent, obedient, submissive… now rose, trembling, yet stronger than before. The first wave of awakening was visible, raw, and undeniable. They were no longer mine to command, and yet they moved in harmony with the pulse I had sent outward. The old hierarchy was dissolving before my eyes.
