The way he does the dialogue, especially the frantic, panicked back-and-forth between the characters during their missions, is hilarious. You can hear the eye-rolls in his voice.

It's not a subtle, serious narration, and it shouldn't be. The books are silly and fast-paced, and Holic leans all the way into that. He does distinct voices for each member of the crew—Shark's dopiness, Piranha's chaotic energy, Snake's sarcasm. It feels less like a straight reading and more like a performance. My kid makes me play it in the car constantly, and I don't even mind because his delivery of lines like 'Are we having a moment?' still cracks me up on the tenth listen.

I think the only downside might be if you're an adult listening solo and you prefer a more traditional narration style; this is very much an animated, character-driven romp. But for the intended audience and tone, the performance is spot-on and adds a whole extra layer of fun to the books.
