Bad Buddy The Series Novel Novels & Stories

I haven't actually finished the novel yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've read, the pacing feels so much more internal. We get a lot more of Pat's internal monologue, his confusion about Pran, which the show can only hint at with a look or a silent moment. The novel spends pages on his thoughts during that roof scene, for instance. The drama's chemistry is unbeatable, but the book makes their emotional isolation clearer.

Some scenes are switched around, too. The whole engineering vs architecture rivalry setup is explained with more backstory in the novel, I think. It feels less like a school rule and more like a deeply ingrained family feud that the boys have absorbed without really questioning it until they meet. The show had to condense that for time, which makes sense, but the novel's slow burn hit differently for me, maybe because I was reading at my own speed.

Also, Ink and Pa's side story feels more fleshed out on the page. Their dynamic gets little moments that the series couldn't fit in. I'm not sure which version I prefer for them yet.
