Sebastian’s POV Despite the files and work piling up on my desk, I cannot seem to concentrate on anything else but my step-sister, Shelly. It’s wrong in so many ways, especially since I am supposed to be her protector and big brother figure. My mind races, swirling with the thoughts of her, the memories of our time together, and the undeniable attraction that grows stronger with each passing day.

"Elena!" A gut-wrenching scream cut through the street noise. I turned my head. A walking corpse knelt ten meters away, held back by three of my bodyguards. Matted hair. Sunken cheeks. The dark, bruised eyes of a junkie. It was Bella. "Elena!" she struggled, trying to get to me. "Look at me! Look at what I've become!" I watched her, my face a blank mask. "I don't know you." "You don't know me?" Bella let out a sharp, cawing laugh. "Elena, I'm your sister! Your beloved Bella!"

I shouted, "Jessica, I'm still your sister!" Jessica growled, "What kind of bullcrap sister? I've always been prettier and luckier than you. Why do you get all the good things in the end, while I turned into a mess? "Don't worry. As long as you cooperate, I'll make your death quick." She wanted to kill me again and restart everything, but Brett was too scared. After all, this was a prison sentence waiting to happen.

He softened his voice. "Listen, honey. Lydia's had it rough since my brother died. She's not here to tear our family apart—she's here to join it. Nothing's going to change how I feel about you." It was as if he'd forgotten the day he got down on one knee and promised me, "You're the only one I'll ever love." I dimly remembered Lydia coming over once. I'd poured her a cup of hot chocolate, just being friendly. Harvey snatched it out of her hand and threw it in the trash. "She's allergic to chocolate," he said.

It didn't. "Allison," he said, not questioningly but just stating her name. "Allison." It was like his saying her name had unlocked something that refused to lock up again. "Fourteen years. We were fourteen in the hallway at school, two Ukrainian girls agreeing we could get along, and I haven't seen her in six months and all the time-" she trailed off and then forced herself to continue, "all the time she's been pulling strings and showing up with sandwiches at the hospital like I didn't already have a sister in my life messing everything up."

I went on to tell the female police officer about how Vivian barged into our room on our wedding night, insisting on sleeping with Zachary, how she guilt-tripped Zachary into leaving when I was sick in the hospital, and how she would threaten to end her life whenever Zachary and I were on a date. For three entire years, I backed down time and again, only for Vivian to grow increasingly bold and outrageous. I informed the police officer about how I accidentally overheard Zachary's conversation with Vivian, which was how I learned that she wasn't actually his younger sister but rather his ex-wife.

And I was relieved when she just agreed that she wanted to talk to her sister. So I immediately gave Leysa my phone, which she accepted and put the phone near her ear. "Hello, sister," she said while looking straight at me and biting her lower lip that made me a little bit unease. I don't know but her stares are enticing, it's like hypnotizing me. That’s why I also can’t take my eyes off her, it’s as if there’s a magnetic field between us.

I wondered why his mother was yet to show up, they made it seem like this was some sort of distant house where one had to wait for a long while before they showed up. "No. Casey and Yvonne are my other sisters but they are way older, married and live with their husbands now. "Oh, I see." I said. I opened my mouth to raise a new question but a tall woman appeared through the doorway his sister had gone into. It explained his height instantly and the striking resemblance could not be dismissed. She looked extremely happy to see her child seated there. She put on a huge grin before turning to look at me. "Caramel dear?" She blurted, a bit of doubt edged into her sentence.

How can they be brother and sister? She did not believe it!!! “Siddharth, we can’t be Siblings!! It’s Impossible, absolutely impossible!! Do you hear me?” She suddenly yelled at him out of control, her tears poured relentlessly, every tear stabbed his heart “I don’t have an older brother like you!! I don’t want an older brother like you!!! I have only one brother and that is Ajay!! You can never be my brother!! I am not.. I am not the daughter of Arun Khanna! I am not!!!”

Lisa reached them and flashed a polite smile. "Beauty, there you are. I've been looking for you all evening." Beauty returned the smile, albeit more reserved. "Lisa! Good to see you." Lisa's eyes went to Shelley. "And this must be your sister! Wow, you two look almost identical. Except that she's, you know... more fit and in shape." She giggled. Beauty rolled her eyes and sighed. Here we go... Lisa then extended a hand towards Shelley. "I've heard so much about you, Shelley."
