Every sound in the room the chatter, the music, the clinking glasses seemed to fade into nothing. I felt my pulse spike, shame and anger fighting inside my chest. I wanted to speak up, to defend him, but Hayden beat me to it. “Hard?” His tone was calm, almost amused. “I suppose for some, it would be.” Jacob blinked, thrown off. “For some?” “Yes.” Hayden’s head tilted slightly, the faintest trace of a smile on his lips. “But I’ve never found my blindness to be an obstacle. People tend to reveal themselves… even when they think I can’t see.”

Blaze, Bella, and Brandon are a team that can communicate without talking. Their teamwork and their precision in coordinating with each other are mind-blowing. The rogue flung out a stiff arm pointing at Lilith. Lilith was too shocked to move. She heard Blaze muttering something that sounded distinctly blasphemous. She griped the sides of his shirt tightly in her hands. Blaze’s eyes narrowed. “You’ll have to fight me to get to her,” he said with a snarl. The rogue laughed. “I’m so glad you said that,” he said, and launched himself forward. In mid-air, his body rippled and he shifted to his wolf, jaws wide open, ready to tear.

I screamed, "Xavier, you're a monster! You flushed my daughter away! Give her back to me!" He shoved me off with brutal force. My balance broke, and my head slammed against the wall with a sickening crack. Warm blood trickled down my forehead, pooling around me as I collapsed onto the same bloodstained floor from the night before. "Eloise, stop acting insane," Xavier said. His voice was devoid of warmth, filled only with condescension. He said, "If you stop making a scene, I'll take you to see the baby. If you want a wedding, I'll give you one."

"Thank you, Diana. I appreciate your consideration." There was a long silence before Diana spoke again. "Your Highness, may I ask you a question?" Damon sighed. "Of course, Diana." "Are you afraid of the dark?" Diana asked. Damon hesitated before answering. "No, I am not afraid of the dark. I have been blind since birth, so I have never known anything else." Diana was quiet for a moment before she spoke again. "I see. I'm sorry if I offended you."

"Well what need would there be to trust me any way? I'm just your wayward son anyway. What use would I be right?" I walk on this time heading to Victor's. I already played my card, now I'm waiting for him to bite the bait. In truth, I'm hoping they aren't stupid enough to go against the vampires. I thought they were regular flight-fight type creatures, but with the revelation of their abilities, we didn't stand a chance. We're basically sitting ducks for them. We don't know how many there are or what entirety of them were capable of. This was a f***ing twilight zone. A war waiting to happen.

Later, I became a core member, helping the team with a huge breakthrough. A year passed by in the blink of an eye. I had almost completely forgotten about Sean, devoting all my time to my research. Finally, we developed a drug that could help blind people regain their eyesight. After a few months of testing, Charles called me and said, "Rachel, the patients that took part in the test all regained their eyesight." I broke down in tears when I heard what Charles had said. Michael Trent, one of my colleagues, came to comfort me.

“Your bandits are falling, one by one. Surrender now, and I might spare your life!” Arit sneered, though the fear was evident in her expression. “You think you can win, Ava? You’re nothing but a fool clinging to a lost cause. I’ve led these bandits for years, and I won’t be brought down by you not this time!” I stepped closer, my voice cold and unyielding. “You’ve already lost, Arit. Look around you. Your forces are in disarray, and your reign of terror ends tonight.” She hesitated, glancing at the carnage around her. The once fierce determination in her eyes was waning, replaced by the stark reality of her situation. But she wasn’t ready to give up.

In the year I thought only my love life was trying to kill me. My soul left my body. One of them pointed at us. “Both of you. Stop right there.” Wow great! I think kidnappers and bandits don't make use of their brains. How could they tell us to stop when we weren't even moving? Adrian’s grip on my wrist tightened just a fraction. “Ava,” he murmured, voice low and steady. “Don’t move.” But then one of the bandits stepped closer, too close, and lifted his weapon directly toward us.

Beta Marcus stood at attention, holding the reins of two massive, shadow-forged war-horses outfitted for alpine transit. "The stealth gunships are fueled and prepped on the upper landing pad, Alpha," Marcus reported crisply. "We have a strike team of twenty elite shadow-weavers standing by." Caelum picked up his heavy obsidian gloves, sliding them over his hands with a sharp snap. He looked down at Lyra, offering her his hand. "Let's go freeze a god," Caelum rumbled.
