LEAH POV Sitting on a lounge chair in the backyard, I watched as everyone had fun. Music was blasting from the speakers carefully arranged in one corner of the yard. Kids shrieked at each other as they chased each other around. Some of them were kids I recognized and had seen around the neighborhood a couple of times while the rest were people I was just seeing for the first time. Some teenagers were sitting beside the pool, engaged in conversation while also laughing with each other. Parents were huddled together in small groups, drinking and laughing. It was the monthly block party and everyone was having fun—except me.

This is one of the most crazy-ass parties I have seen at the clubhouse, and that is something because, trust me, when I have seen them partying like animals. The entire road in front of the clubhouse is blocked and has turned into a live dancing club with music blaring from the speakers so loud that even the deaf can hear it. People, even from nearby towns, have come to the cub to party because free booze and women are something that these pigs can't say no to. I am glad that my sons are not old enough to understand what is going on because this party is definitely not kids friendly at all.

As Kate expected, her parents were extremely pleased to see her. Kate was so happy to be on familiar turf again. The next-door neighbors showed up to greet her as if she was a visiting dignitary. Wendy’s mom and younger sister also came to see Kate. Within minutes, Laura had put together a small party to celebrate Kate’s arrival. John was more than happy to get on the grill and cook up some spicy barbeque. By evening, the gathering had transformed into a full-blown block party with music and all.
