Bartholomew held his head up. "See? Zoey's bodyguards are here. You're done fo—" A scream cut him short. The greasy man who tried to ride me had a bullet tear through his hand. He was rolling and groaning on the ground. "Mr. Artemisia!" the bodyguards shouted in unison. The crystal chandelier even shook a little. Then silence choked the air. The leader of the bodyguards was my dad's confidant and a retired special force soldier, Felix Cashmere. He darted ahead and sent the men around me flying.

"Half these people are from Dasha. That doesn't mean anything." "But your old bodyguard was Buff, a Manand local. That's got to count for something," said Smith. Demi looked at him. "So I changed bodyguards. What's wrong with that?" "Get him!" Smith ordered sharply, uncaring of what Demi had to say. The bodyguards exploded with spiritual energy at once, and fierce winds kicked up in the room. One of the bodyguards reached out to grab Wilbur's shoulder while the other one threw a punch at Wilbur's stomach.

Her face heated when the memory flashed in her mind. “Good morning, Mr Lopes. My name is Isaiah Wilson, part-owner of Global Security, and this is Palmer Burris. He’ll be one of the bodyguards charged to protect your daughter.” Palmer gave a curt nod; his hands clasped behind him. Hearing the news that Palmer–the man she had earth shattering sex with last night–was now her bodyguard, Natalie’s knees nearly buckled under her. She faltered to the nearest lounge sofa and plunked down. Her eyes finding refuge in the scene of high-rise buildings, their windows reflecting the morning sun.

But the handsome man stood there calmly, seemingly unfazed by it. Mo Jia glanced at the bodyguard as she coldly said "The pin is 2257. Pay your boss for the phone. And use the rest of the money for your entire lifetime. But, next time, think twice before you look down on people. God knows what will happen if you mess with the wrong ones." The bodyguard shivered after getting the warning. The card in his hand was feeling like fire to him as if it would burn him down. The other two bodyguards also shivered but they sighed in relief as they thought that they were smart enough to not offend the beautiful lady.

Warm blood splattered across the side of my face, carrying that sharp, unsettling smell of iron. He'd been shot. But he didn't make a sound, and the arm around me didn't so much as tremble. At the same time, by the faint moonlight coming through the windows, I caught sight of Julian nearby out of the corner of my eye. The instant the shots rang out, this man, who'd once sworn to protect me with his life, the Ward family's former head bodyguard, had thrown himself, on pure instinct, straight toward Amber. He'd pinned her body beneath his, and even after a stray round grazed his arm, slowing him down further, he never once let go of her.

He said the last line with a bitter tone in his voice. I huffed, “Oh please! As if you care! Not possible! “Effective immediately you will be assigned a new bodyguard.” All traces of the look I thought I had seen were gone. Mr. “Greek god” stepped forward. Father never put men in my security detail except for my driver Kelvin. He only did that because Kelvin was ugly as hell.

I hissed. “Oh but we can.” Gabriel grinned. I turned to Gatsby, waiting for her to tell me this is a fucking dream and I need to wake up. But she just shook her head and looked the other way. Fuck. This is as real as my depression. “We've already hired your bodyguard.” Gabriel added, replacing his grin with his usual unreadable look. “He's an Ex-Navy SEAL, has top-notch recommendations, and is experienced with guarding high-profile personalities. He’s a sought-after professional and the perfect fit for this job.”

“Bodyguard.” Cassian blinked. Then laughed. “Oh, my father must be livid.” Rowan didn’t respond. He wasn’t here to laugh. He was here to protect something or someone that clearly didn’t want to be saved. Cassian dropped the ice and stood, eyes flicking over Rowan’s frame tall, built, black T-shirt stretched over muscle and discipline. “Not bad. At least they sent someone with arms this time.” “Try anything and I break your arm,” Rowan replied.
