He didn't see how they'd been picking on me—and even worse, he was siding with them. "What did you say?" My voice was shaky. "Apologize to my family!" Wayne growled, his jaw tight with anger. I snorted in fury, yanked my wrist free, raised my other hand, and slapped him hard across the face. The sharp crack rang like a gunshot, and the room went eerily quiet. "I'm not apologizing for a damn thing!" I yelled. The silence stretched for a few seconds before someone broke it with a clap. Lucy, who had remained silent up until now, got up and made her way over to me. She threw her arm around my shoulders, clearly excited and overjoyed.

So, on one hand, I’m relieved that I don’t have to worry about not having books on my first day of class, but on the other hand, I’m nervous about how Caden might react. Back in high school, when he intentionally broke my laptop and I borrowed his as a replacement, he stormed into my lecture and threw a fit, claiming that I stole his belongings. He even called me a derogatory term in front of the whole class, fully aware that it could get him detention. Well, these days, Caden has upgraded to being a calm, emotionless bully. He no longer screams in my face like he used to. Instead, he launches his attacks with nothing more than a smirk.

“I thought you loved hockey so much, you can’t afford to lose it.” Jace’s face turned sullen slowly, his jaw tightened. I could feel he was stuffing it all in, refusing to let it out. I tried to think of what to say again to convince him but then my phone rang beside me. I paused and turned to look at the screen. Quinn texted. ‘Have you seen this?’ I picked up my phone and clicked on the link she sent afterward. It was a video of one of the boys on the team, telling everyone how he was bullied by Jace and how the coach tried to bury it all because of the Carters’ family.

If I tell you to be a statue, you become marble! I broke completely as I ran out through the elevator, stumbling through the press and into the pouring rain. I walked through the streets under the cold icy rain. I didn’t care. My sandals splashed into deep puddles of mud. I could still hear my stepmother's voice telling me I was a burden and the echoes of the laughter of the girls back in high school who tripped me in the cafeteria. I was smart but I felt like a discarded toy. No one wanted me.

They are big bullies and It seems they haven't seen their match. Genia, I called her and she looked at me. "Can you please tell me who the C3 girls are? I asked her politely. "The C3 are the school well-known Bullies, They are Called the C3 because their names begin with the letter C and there are three in number."

I grinned at my boys, who were all looking nervous except for Mancini. I'd warned, I warned them all that my kid was a whole other breed of fucked up, but they all, to a man, claimed she was just a baby. My phone rang on my hip with the first strains of The Dark Army by Rok Nardin. Mengele's demented ass was calling. "It's in the bunny." I snapped my fingers at the boys to get their attention. "How do you know?" "I know." "Ryder, does your ex have a bunny?"

“Relax. Bree will first go into this cry baby mode for a week or so, before having any time to fight back. So I’d say, you have time to buy yourself an armor.” “Very funny.” I scoffed. I wasn’t scared of Bree. She was no different from the other bullies I’ve earned myself from different schools over the years. She was just like the rest. They bully you because you are a threat to them. They will not stop until you are under their feet begging for mercy. I am not like that. I would rather have them under my feet instead.
