The Chase Novels & Stories

"Is it true that you're getting married to Lucas De Marchi in two weeks?" I stopped walking when I heard the last question of the odd man with a very ugly mustache. But Chase was already pushing me in the car. If he wasn't there, I'm sure as hell I would be in front of the paper tomorrow about killing a poor columnist. I watch as Chase rounds the car and emerges from the driver's seat. He jumped from his seat when he saw my glaring reflection on the rear-view mirror. "What the fu—"

Once Tina was done, I put on my shoes, carried my purse and took one last at my reflection before my phone rings. " Please don't make any more bad pancakes and wait for me." I tell Tina. She laughs. " You look good." She walks me to the door. Chase is already parked in my driveway, leaning against his car. Another new flashy car. I think I'm gonna ask him how he makes his money tonight. I don't think Chase's father is behind all these expensive cars he drives. Even his penthouse is more expensive than my apartment. " Hey Newton." Tina calls. Chase gives her a small smile and a wave.

Okay so Chasing Tara is ending soon and I haven't seen anyone saying that they want a sequel. I have to go now. Please read, vote, comment and share. Until the next chapter... -Daisy

3 Billion. There is a photograph. It's Chase, but not the Chase I know, not the Chase who showed up at my door at nine in the morning with a tie he'd knotted wrong and a ring box in his jacket pocket. This Chase is standing outside a glass building in a suit that costs more than my entire wardrobe, next to a man I recognize from financial news as Aldous Sterling, silver-haired and severe, with the same jaw and the same eyes and the same particular quality of stillness.

Chase refused to show his face. I texted him to stop lurking and come out already. He only laughed it off, said he wasn't going to do that, that the whole fun was in the mystery, and told me to just go home. I climbed into Nicholas's passenger seat, and the back-and-forth rolled on the whole drive. Chase made himself my LA guide, starting with a whole field manual on spotting the fuckboys out here, the gait, the lean, the way they materialize the moment a new girl lands.

“C’mon, Sloane. Give me something to work with here. I don’t usually have to beg this hard.” “She said no.” The voice didn’t just cut into the hallway—it dropped the temperature twenty degrees. Marcus stepped back, turning. Chase stood ten feet down the corridor, leaning against an industrial ice machine. Hands jammed into the pockets of black track pants, hood pulled up, casting deep jagged shadows over his eyes. He looked like an executioner who’d run out of patience. Marcus let out a long, irritated sigh. “Chase. Bro. Seriously. Get a hobby.”

and quickly closed the file on her laptop. Chase flopped into the chaise. “Who was that?” “Hannah. Bringing me up to speed on today’s reporting. Seems someone had a very busy day yesterday.” His bottle of water stopped halfway to his mouth. “Really, Chase? The Museum of Sex?” He grinned. “Hey, it is a museum. I was tryin’ to get a little culture while I’m in the big city, Hollywood.” “Not funny. And for someone who was such a fit about going shopping with me, you managed to hit three different stores yesterday.”

Chase is also coming with us in the same car as I need him near me to sense any supernatural danger first. Luckily there are none so we can spend some time alone and away from our awaiting problems and figure out our next strategy to deal with them. The car ride from airport to the hotel wasn't awkward like before.Felicity speaks occasionally to both of us mostly questions about the passing by iconic places or monuments.Chase replied to her as I have no knowledge of such stuffs.Chase mostly tour for overseas business deals while I choose to run the mafia under the shadows.

Chase said, slamming the door. “Nice ride,” he shouted, clearly excited. It was a … Bentley? Hell if I know. It was black and expensive. That’s all I knew. “I uhm, I forgot to take off the ring,” I whispered. “Holy crap mom! Is that real,” Chase yelled, leaping forward. I blinked, trying to catch my breath. I suddenly felt like one of those little brownie people from the movie Willow. Teeny … tiny. With this massive rock shining brightly.

After a few minutes, Ingrid spoke again. “I know this might not be the right time to tell you this, but you are going to be an escort for Lorenzo tomorrow night.” “What?” Evie eyes widened and her heart started beating fast. “Yes. He wants you to be his date to the gala he’s hosting tomorrow night.” Evie shook her head. “You mean I’m going to see that monster again?”
