Her coat hung tattered from her frame, streaked with blood and moss, but her stride never faltered. Thomas straightened from the porch railing, relief easing his face. “Celine. Report.” She inclined her head, her voice calm despite the faint tremor of exhaustion. “Vera’s holed up at the old sugar mill. She’s built up her numbers—two hundred strong. Witches, militia, feral vampires. The place is warded heavily with bone magic and blood glyphs. She’s preparing for war.”
