The Deal Elle Kennedy Novels & Stories

The massive LED screen at the front of the ballroom lit up. Every second of Kenny and Lincoln’s meeting on the yacht at the Hudson Yacht Club. The $500,000 cash being counted out of Kenny’s Goyard briefcase. The audio of Kenny directing Lincoln to tear the Moretti Family apart. And the footage from this afternoon at Weill Cornell, the man in the white coat trying to kill Lincoln with medical-grade fentanyl. Not a single cut. Kenny went chalk-white. His mouth moved, but nothing came out. That was when the carved oak doors of the Grand Ballroom swung open.

Eleanor looked away. "Because he became a problem." The room chilled. "A problem?" Lena repeated. "He opposed a deal." "What deal?" Eleanor hesitated. Then, finally said: "The Arizona acquisition." The name meant nothing to Lena. But Sebastian's expression changed. "You've heard of it?" Lena asked. "Only vaguely." His voice was tight. "My father once called it the deal that saved Hartwell." Eleanor gave a humorless laugh. "Saved it for some people." Lena's pulse quickened.

As soon as I begin talking about my dream, Elle grows completely still as she listens with wrapt attention. I walk her through the dream as if I am reliving it. In my mind I can see the precipice again and hear the disembodied voice. I tell her that it is the moon goddess and that she made a deal with my parents. When I mention the deal, her hand flies to her chest in shock but she does not interrupt me.

I argued. “We know you’re loaded. You’re Ken Clarke,” Elle said. “But it’s not really money we’re betting on, is it?” The look on her face told me exactly what she meant. We’re betting on our names, our dignities! When I looked at Nicholas, he had a smug look on his face. He knew he had me right where he wanted me. Shit! “What did you say, Kenny?” he asked in an amused voice. “You never get drunk?” The ladies in front of us cheered. “Kenny! Kenny! Kenny” Fuck!

Emma rolls her eyes. Kevin...The name brings a bitter churn in the pit of my stomach. Weeks ago, I had a fiancé, my wedding was in two weeks, and then I caught the love of my life cheating on me with my friend, Anna. That wasn’t the worst part though; they had been planning on taking the estate in my trust fund.

he hummed over the phone as his hands thrummed on the desk, and Brynn’s gaze that was filled with curiosity stayed on Killian until he ended the call, It was one of Deon’s men who had informed them about the party that was arranged for the richest, most powerful, and most influential people and Killian knew that Damon would be there, he could see the desperation and greed the day he met Damon and knew the gold crest wolf would do anything to get that deal,

I said to him. "How is the food?" Camilla asked. "Splendid, this restaurant is going to be the new hot spot for my buddies," Senator Kelly said. "What of our deal?" Camilla asked. "What deal?" I asked. "Renaissance becomes a tax free entity as soon as senator Kelly is sworn in for a second term," Camilla replied. It was a good deal but at what cost. "And the board is aware of this?" I asked. "Everyone is on board, Damien we just await your official signature before we can commence," Camilla said. I nodded thoughtfully.

"What? Did she see you? What did she say? Why would you visit her? You didn't tell her about Ryle, did you? Oh, gosh, Kent." He opens the fridge and snatches the packet of macadamia nuts. He munches some before speaking. "Of course, she saw me. I visited her because I was concerned. You know that we get along well. You saw it all in the past." He sits on the counter and then sighs. "Don't worry. I didn't tell her about him. I didn't tell her that you'd made a deal with a crook. Well, I haven't yet. That's all of it. I didn't do or say anything unnecessary. I just really checked on her and brought her gifts. She really liked those tulips. She said—"

And if I told you—if you knew—it would break us. Elena stood as well, cinching the robe around herself like armor. "I've already been lost, Killian. And if you don't start telling me the truth, there won't be an 'us' to save." He spun, haunted eyes. "I made a deal with Victor DeLuca six years ago." Her breath froze. "What sort of deal?" "One that saved your life. and cost me everything." She retreated, her head shaking. "No. No, you lie."

"Relax. Elysia's probably just jealous again. God knows what trick she pulled this time—she even had HR play along with her antics. You just closed a billion-dollar deal. If you leave now, that deal will go down the drain." Zayn was still uneasy. "This feels different. Everyone at the banquet saw you carry Ellie out. Mr. Morcant Senior was there, too. "I'm sure you know of the company's unspoken rule. I'm afraid—" Keanu cut him off. "Relax! The company belongs to Ellie, anyway. If it weren't for Elysia, Ellie and I wouldn't have to sneak around like this. If anyone's the third wheel here, it's her!
