The Deal Elle Kennedy Novels & Stories

I have too much on my plate to be distracted by a random employee. I walked into my office, slumped into my chair, and barely had a chance to exhale when my phone buzzed. The screen lit up Elijah Reyes, my late foster dad's lawyer. I answered. "Yes?" "Kieran," his steady voice came through, "we need to finalize the terms of Logan's will. There is one last property, a prime estate. That you can't access yet." I leaned back, finger tapping my desk. "And why is that?"

"That's good. Next time, if my budget allows, buy a television for the kids. They always go to the neighbors' house just to watch TV." "Oh, here we go again with the bragging," I heard Ate Cynthia's voice in the background. Dad immediately scolded her. "Where are Ambet and the others?" I looked for my nieces and nephews, but Annika hesitated. "Uhm, Ate Cynthia doesn’t want to show them to you," she whispered. "Oh, I see. That’s okay," I said, my smile fading. "By the way, Lyrica, my child, Kanor is selling a carabao for a cheap price. I really want to have one to help with our livelihood," Dad said.

“Thirty percent? Are you sure she didn’t mean three percent?” Jenna just smirked, crossing her arms proudly. “Three percent? Ella, please. Little Kate over there has connections. She’s not just some sales manager; she’s the niece of the chairman of Elves Construction. She’s practically real estate royalty in disguise.” Ella's shock turned to awe. “Wait… so fans can get this devoted? High-quality fans come with discounts now?” “Apparently,” Jenna laughed, giving Kate a quick thumbs-up. With the discount locked in, Ella couldn’t pass up the deal and quickly arranged to pay a deposit.

That was the only way I would get through this mess and not lose everything it had taken me years to acquire. I leaned back into my chair, certain it would only be a question of time before she came round. She would agree to the deal-I was sure of it. And with that, everything would fall into place. *** Two days later, Chloe stood in my office again, but this time, her expression was different. Resigned, yet determined. “I’ll do it,” she said, her voice firm. Relief washed over me, though I schooled my face into neutrality. “Great. We’ll get the contract typed up immediately.”

A different pang yet ravishing as well hit my chest at our last encounter's memory, but I struggled to push it back. He got on the row under mine and leaned on the back of the bench before me, smirking. "And here I thought you'd be at the grand declaration with the rest of the student body?" "Grand declaration?" I asked, confused. "Apparently Jeremy O'Connel had convinced half the team to help him proposed to Rita Miller." "Rita Miller? Isn't she dating someone already?" Nate shrugged, amused. "That didn't stop him, now did it?"

That was why I loved Olive like my own sister. “That’s not gonna happen. Trust me. Keith and Ben just got the deal with the giant tech company based in LA. So it’s kinda a big deal to them, that’s why they’re throwing a party. Besides, he would love to see you there, and I already told him you said yes. You know he loves you, babe.” “I know. I love him, too.” “So?” She was determined. She kind of reminded me of Mad, who never accepted no for an answer.

She didn't know if she would be able to act the perfect girlfriend. She needed someone to teach her. She called Jessica. “Hello, who am I speaking with?” Jessica said Immediately she picked up the call. Marley rolled her eyes. “Stop being dramatic, Jessy.” “So you remember there is a person named Jessy. I thought we were no longer on speaking terms.” Jessica said sulking. “I'm sorry. A lot has been going on and I was preoccupied.” “A lot? What has been going on?” Marley bit her lips. She can't tell her about the deal she signed with Anthonio. He said no one was to know and besides that, this deal was something she wanted to keep hidden from anyone else.

The news came during one of their nightly video calls. Kai was completely nude in his brightly lit hotel room, smiling broadly as he spoke to Elara. **Kai:** Baby? **Elara:** Yeah? **Kai:** Guess what? **Elara:** Errrr!!! You closed the royalty deal? **Kai:** Uhh… Yes to that but no, that’s not it. Think harder. Come on. (He chuckled as he urged her to rack her brain) **Elara:** You got a new girlfriend?

Voss unfolded his newspaper and Aria reached for a fourth pancake. Kennedy looked around. His house, his table, his supposedly dead wife, his former father in law, his daughter, his daughter's best friend and Edward Vale's son living in it. Kennedy closed his eyes. One agreement. He had made one agreement because his pregnant daughter had cried and somehow, that single yes had turned his estate into a family compound. He opened his eyes. Sean was putting fruit onto Shannon's plate, Amelia was drinking coffee with one sugar and very little milk, Mr. Voss was complaining that the financial section of the paper had become lazy, Aria was stealing bacon from Sean and Shannon was laughing.
