They are the demons! "Oh my God! I exclaimed. " See what I mean? Those are what the demons look like!" Angel proudly declared. "Okay, I get your point now. Can we go far from them?" I grabbed his hand and started walking. Angel is not a demon but a real angel! So it means that everything about the angel and devil thing was a lie. The problem is, I'm not the only one who thought that the angels are the ones with wings and pretty faces. Almost everyone in the mortal world has the same belief. That's why I thought that Angel is evil!

The Earl shrieked in wonder, "You call her a maiden! She is no maiden. She's a thief! A mercenary, unbelievable thief!" He continued barking while he walked backwards away from them, "She handed her drink to the Earl of Vetcom, said things too daring for any normal Scottish woman and stole food. You would not call such person a mai…" He found himself staggering suddenly, noticing he was just at the edge of a ditch, one he didn't notice because he was too busy shouting. While he found himself falling into it, a hand quickly gripped around his hard and tight. Gently, that same hand pulled him up, straight back to his balance. And it was the devil herself.

"We. Are. Doomed. The devil has come for us." Angelica had heard him name the devil a few times now. "Father, the devil has always been here." She told him. He leaned back, shaking his head, "but have you ever seen him?" He asked. Angelica looked into his fearful eyes. "I have," he whispered. "I saw him. He is...frightening, but he doesn't scare me. No, no." He shook his head and moved his forefinger side to side. "I will eliminate him. I won't let evil rule us."

He leans in closer, his hot breath fanning my face as he looked down at me. "I think you are mistaken about something, little one. You belong to me. You were mine from the moment you clung to me desperately begging for help. But you weren't saved by some hero, a knight in shining armor who would do your bidding and just accept it when you tell him no. No darling, I'm the devil and you are mine.” With this his lips crashed down against mine.

The only thing making him visible was the light from the fire place. "Would you like to dance with the devil?" He asked as he held his hand out. I stared him, contemplating in my mind. It's not like I had anything to lose. "Okay." I nodded hesitantly, standing to my feet. I walked around the table towards Nikola. His hair silky smooth, His jawline sharp and his lips perfect. He took my hand, His touch making butterflies dance within my stomach. I've never craved his touch and never knew it.

This was worse. Tears welled in my eyes, but I kept fighting. I kicked. Screamed. Cursed. Their hands gripped my waist, my shoulders. I thrashed like a wild thing. I didn’t care if they broke me—I wasn’t going down quiet. And then something inside me cracked. I wanted someone—anyone—to show up. Even Leon. Even Sean. Even the damn devil himself. I hated them. But at that moment, I wanted to be saved by the same people I was trying to run from. I didn’t want to die in some alley. I didn’t want to be left like trash after these bastards were done.

“Of course he does. The Devil always does.” He blinked at her, unsure if she was joking. She leaned in slightly, adjusting the collar near his neck as she whispered, “Listen to me, cher garçon. The Devil cannot be understood, nor can he be coerced. You may think he loves, you may think he destroys, but really, it is all the same to him. It is all just… instinct.” Her eyes flicked toward Kain, who was now idly folding a page from one of his documents into neat, exact creases. “Keep your guard, mon ange. Always. You will be fine if you remember that.”

His angry complaints echoes through the great hall, making the large marble pillars that hold the giant halls of the underworld in place tremor as they soar past.
