I swallowed the painful lump forming in my throat before I finally started reading. My dearest Windy, If you're reading this, it means I'm no longer there to see the wonderful woman you've become. He pulls out his phone to show me a photograph. A woman. Beautiful. So beautiful in a way Renaissance paintings are. Ethereal. Her glowing blue eyes and golden brown hair sitting gloriously on her collar bones. She's standing next to the younger version of the man before me. Both of them, laughing at something beyond the frame. “Theresa.” Damien says. Her name sounds like a prayer spoken in a burned church. “That is my wife”. Present tense, but I could somehow still feel the past tense lurking in his eyes.

“That’s right. It’s basically the same thing.” Dale had been playing the long game. With his plan falling apart, he turned to Krystal and said in disgruntlement, “What about me, Krystal? I’m the children’s father. Didn’t you promise to marry once the children were born?” Krystal stared at him with furrowed brows. “Move aside. This doesn’t involve you.” I looked at their vile, flattering faces and smirked. “I warned you. No one here is getting away with this.”

The kind of home Patricia had dreamed about owning one day. The kind of home she and Alex used to imagine together. Now it belonged to him and Fiona. The realization hurt. Far more than she expected. A second vehicle pulled into the driveway moments later. A white Mercedes. The driver's door opened. Fiona stepped out. Even from a distance, she looked elegant. Confident. Perfectly dressed. As though life itself favored her. Patricia felt anger rise. Not because Fiona was beautiful. Because Fiona knew. She knew Alex had a wife.

First it was his parents separation earlier this year due to his dad's cheating problem and careless attitudes, Now it's his mom's death. This year would really be the most Awkward in his life... ~ A knock on the main entrance got Mareili hurrying out from the room, eyes red and puffed, she rubbed them slightly then proceeded to open the door.

He then looked up at Daniel and grabbed his sleeve weakly. "That woman earlier, she is my wife, right?" Liam asked, visibly scared. Daniel immediately looked distraught when he heard Liam's question. "That's right, Young Lord. She is your wife," he replied. Liam softly gasped. His eyes were teary and his brain was rapidly working hard to recall the entire hazy dream that had almost been erased from his memory. The dream turned out to be real, and his brain thought it was all just a dream. As a result, he couldn't remember anything at the moment.

It didn’t help. Her mind snagged on another memory in her dream, the night someone had broken into Damian’s penthouse while she was there. She could still remember the shift in his expression when he realized they weren’t alone. The way he’d gone utterly still, like a predator assessing whether to attack and home he protected her. Too many threats. Too many angles. And she was caught in the middle. Her heart ached as she thought of the only dream she wanted to cling to: standing beside Damian as his wife. Not as his assistant.
