They both knew. The war for the crown was over. But the war for survival had just begun. (End of Book 1 - New York Arc) (Start of Book 2 - The Kingdom's Secret)

⸻ “…what do you want?” Finally. ⸻ I closed my eyes. ⸻ “Choose.” ⸻ A long pause followed. ⸻ “You have forty-eight hours,” I continued. “Call me back—and we end this peacefully.” ⸻ My tone hardened. ⸻ “Don’t call…” ⸻ I opened my eyes. ⸻ “And we go to war.” ⸻ Real war. ⸻ Not shadows. Not secrets. ⸻ The kind that burns countries to the ground.

Lucien held her gaze for a moment longer… just long enough to make the weight of his words settle where it needed to. Then he leaned forward again slightly, both hands coming to rest against the cold surface of the table. The room seemed to draw in around him. “This is not a war of numbers,” he continued, his voice quieter now… but far more dangerous because of it. “It is a war of endurance.” His eyes moved across them again. “Of precision.” A pause. “Of finality.” No one shifted, no one even dared. Because this… this was the moment the war stopped being distant… and became inevitable.

“And if I refuse?” “Then the next version includes your face. And Kael’s. And Draven’s. And the sound of you asking them for more. The younger crews already have the blurred version. They are curious. Curiosity turns into demands for the rest. I can give it to them or I can stop it. That choice is still mine for the moment.” The café continued around us. Cups clinked. Someone laughed at the counter. Ordinary life moved past the window while the two of us sat inside a private war that had started ten years earlier in a staged car crash.

He carried Lydia away, leaving me standing alone by the fence. I watched them go, a searing pain tearing through my chest. But I turned and walked toward the woods at the edge of town. I had something important to do. I knew exactly who I’d find there. There was Sebastian Whitmore lying there. The high-ranking military officer who’d taken a liking to the young war hero and mentored him, opening every door for Julian. In my last life, he'd helped Julian rise through the ranks, reaching a senior position at a remarkably young age.

Sussane was ordered to take Clara to her room since she couldn't be of much help due to her grief. Freddie began, "Alpha King will be here soon. He has already been notified of the circumstances. We are officially at war. The Final War has begun." All their allies were either in the room, on the mind-link, or FaceTiming through secured internet channels. Y had taken the first step, it was their turn to be ready.

Jeff looked like he wanted to tear me apart with his bare teeth. However, there he was, a pitiful mess, missing limbs, reduced to nothing more than a wild animal yapping away. 'Revenge isn't just about drawing blood. It's about breaking the spirit.' I thought. I did just that, letting him in on the will Thomas left me, my rejection of Wynnie, and my upcoming marriage to my new fiancee. I was on top of the world, while he was nothing but a gutter maggot. If only he had not come after me, the Cunninghams might have spared him. However, his greed knew no bounds.

I rolled my eyes at him, and he chuckled. We sat up and realized that we had been locked in by the library keepers. They probably didn't know that we were inside. “Don't worry, I know too many ways out of this place.” Zion said, and I felt at rest. The books were mostly boring, but they were also enlightening. “So, there's this war that happened that caused the demons to be banished.” I said, and he raised his head to look at me. “The Battle of Wolmon.” Zion said, and I nodded. His eyes widened when he realized what I was driving at.

The war room was a ghost of its former self, a place now filled with the profound silence of a final, unyielding resolve. The maps were rolled up, the strategies memorized, the orders given. The last war, a brutal, uncompromising clash of two worlds, had reached its climax. Amara and Dante, a formidable partnership forged in the crucible of betrayal and loss, were a single, unstoppable force. But now, they were not just fighting for an empire; they were fighting for their family. The son, a secret for three years, was now a reality, a reason to live, a reason to fight, a reason to die.
