Until he could see cities glowing on distant spheres like jewels scattered across velvet. Communities like constellations, connected by threads of light too fine to name. Life everywhere—thriving, building, reaching toward something greater. And then she showed him the dead places. Planets dark and hollow, their surfaces scarred and broken. Star systems burned out and cold, nothing left but ash and silence. Entire galaxies have gone dim, their light extinguished, their worlds consumed by something hungry and vast and utterly merciless.

He didn’t touch it. He didn’t dare. Instead, he spoke softly, voice trembling: “You came across galaxies… because you were afraid. Because you were alone. I feel that. I feel all of it.” The conduit spasmed, its limbs glitching so violently they blurred. “A L O N E… E N D L E S S…” Aiden swallowed. “You didn’t want to destroy your world. You didn’t want the power. It overwhelmed you. It fractured you.” Static crackled across the being’s chest.

She felt a profound sense of peace, but also a new, sharper realization. "Rhys," she said, her voice quiet. "How far does it go now?" Rhys looked at his obsidian tablet. The screen was no longer flashing "Error." It was displaying a single, steady word: Infinite.
