Caleb and Jordan are the new normal as they spend all their free time in an endless party, drinking themselves into the void. Jade looks at me with an icy glance, and it stops me. Just a glance, but it lands. She’s halfway through her second glass, with eyes locked on her date, petting mine. Caleb’s got his mouth on Jordan’s neck now as he blows softly down her skin. Guess all that talk about being excited to see Jade was just noise. Figures.

It was bathed in a dazzling radiance that blinded every entrant, including Sian, Uzair, and even Tobias and Raymond. Six luminous orbs were each surrounded by a halo as they floated in the air directly above them. The glowing halo was a protection, and they could more or less discern what lay within the halo. The first halo held a violet plaque. It occasionally erupted in bursts of golden flames that were so hot that they seemed to burn through space itself. Even seasoned level nine supreme saints like Uzair could feel their souls tremble when they approached the scorching flames. Severin said, "That seems to be Wildfire's combat techniques and divine arts!"

She mused, eyeing her, and then her gaze flickered to Hunter. At the same time, Armando's best fighter stepped out of the portals surrounding them. There were so many of them. His whole army was there except him. "Put me down," She whispered and Hunter obliged but still held her close. "I'm excited," Lennox grinned like a psychopath and charged at them followed by Luca. A warrior tried to attack Silvia but Hunter stepped forward. Silvia noticed Rachael was chanting a spell to attack Hunter. Inhaling sharply Silvia used her magic and raised herself in the air as she attacked Rachael who dodged her attack.

While I nodded slowly, accepting her proposal, a general cleared his throat, his gaze lingering on Halo and I, “we're still in the middle of a meeting, my lord.” “I only want to borrow him for a few minutes, sir.” Halo said politely, her shoulders relaxed and back straight. She was confident, smart, beautiful, everything a father would ask for in his daughter. She was Felza's, but I've prayed so hard to the moon goddess to make her mine. Felza kept on rejecting my proposal, but with Halo growing fond of me, how long would she be able to say no? Just because of her, she might have to give in eventually.

She still couldn't believe all that was happening. The spiralling hook stopped and clamped onto something, an iron circular rod, and with her full strength, Theresa pulled the rod out, pulling out the golden bright halo whose shining light almost blinded the four of them. All of them were lost in the glory of the halo for a second, and Cordis in particular couldn't wait to harness the power the halo possessed. A bullet passed through Theresa's face, almost boring a hole through her nose and bringing everyone back to their senses. The Hadens had found them again.

“Here. Eat.” I accepted the fruit and looked at him as he get another one. When he bit it, I bit on it too, imitating what he’s doing. We ate silently and I didn’t hear any noise except the creaking sound of the night and the crunchy fruits while we were munching. “What’s your name?” Do real vampires have names? He stopped on his track to look at me before averting it away like he’s getting burned by my gaze. “Prin-,” he shook his head. “Dash Slaughtrus Vandelion.”

Old, sharp, and bone-deep. “There was a fire,” he said quietly. “Years ago. Before the war. Before the club. I was part of a covert ops team—black-level, off the books. We were ordered to neutralize a facility that was... experimenting on civilians.” Sienna froze. “Experimenting how?” “Cybernetic testing,” he said. “They called it Project Halo. I thought we were rescuing people.” His voice cracked. “Turns out, we were the cleanup crew.”
