Lei slapped his thigh. ..so that was it! He sighed. I knew something was not right.. The main character of this book, the evil magician, was a very talented, handsome young man. His childhood sweetheart, whom he knew from a different school, happened to be also a very excellent man. Both the main character and his childhood sweetheart are men. In other words, this novel was a gay one. Lei’s expression was blank. He thought hard on the plot of the book his friend suggested for him to read, trying to connect them with the one he’s holding.

“Inspiration doesn’t wait. Besides, you say things too good to waste. Like the coffee brooding? That was gold.” He shook his head, a smirk tugging at his mouth as he ordered two coffees. We grabbed a corner table, Goose still stealing glances from half the café. “So, what’s this book about?” Ace asked once we sat. “Cat shifters,” I said without hesitation. “Epic romance. Sarcastic hero, rambly heroine, lots of claws and passion.” Ace raised a brow. “Sounds familiar.” My cheeks burned. “Coincidence.”

It spoke of a great mage who challenged a creature of shadow and ruin named K'tthar, a being who had laid waste to entire landscapes in its devastating rampage. The tale praised the courage of the city's heroes who ultimately sealed the dark entity away, but it was a poet's account, not a scholar's. The prose was beautiful, the narrative heroic, but it was a song, not a schematic. It offered no names, no incantations, no specifics of the magic they wielded to achieve the impossible. This time it was Devoe that answered back. "You guys should kindly hand over the ancient book. I couldn't find it in the building where I was sealed. The book holds the key to my victory". Devoe said, which kind of confused the heroes. "We don't have the ancient book, someone else stole it". Dave said which made Devoe laugh. "You think you can fool with such a lie". Devoe created fireballs in his hand, laughing and looking at the heroes. The heroes thread their step back ready to fight if he eventually changes to his beast.

"Deceptive," I read in the written title of the book, I opened it in turn and what popped up to me was a picture of a large creature that was half human and wolf, its body full of feathers. “He has no death, to this day he is still alive, trying to save the woman he first loved and wants to be with for life,” I read here. There was some spark that flowed through my being. I wasted no more time and I opened the book, but my torn eyebrows met its pages, even if I looked over and over I could not read anything, until I got to the back of the book and there was I noticed a very small letter.
