I finally lifted my eyes, just enough to show him he had ten seconds to get to the point. He swallowed, as he stared at me, right into my eyes. “The annual pack hunting outing is tomorrow,” he said. “I remember you used to love attending it." he added. The hunting game was indeed tomorrow, and I remember everyone in the pack used to anticipate the activity then, I and Hailey wasn't excluded. we would put on our best dress to watch different warriors hunt the biggest animal. I didn’t answer him. I just cut another piece of steak and chewed slowly.

The hunter leader smiled again. “You thought we’d bring just a hunting party?” My chest tightened. “This is an army.” “Yes.” He looked almost pleased. “And now the real hunt begins.” The motorcycles spread out instantly, forming a wide circle around the clearing. Hunters dismounted smoothly, raising their weapons. The wolves were surrounded again. But this time it was worse. Much worse. Because these hunters weren’t just armed. They were prepared for war. Adrian stepped slightly in front of me. His eyes glowed brighter now.

I watched for a moment before walking toward my door. As I was shutting it, I heard Elena whisper, “Go get your man, Auntie.” I shook my head. That girl was a disaster walking, and I absolutely adored the organized chaos that was Elena. I quietly crept down the stairs before slipping out the back door and into the forest. I stopped beneath his tree, looking up, scanning the tree for him but not finding him. “I know you’re here, ‘Sprey. I can feel you.” He sighed as he swung himself down out of the tree. “Hey, Scarlett. I was just leaving. I was hunting a squirrel. They’re fast and good to hunt to keep myself fresh and-”

Blake, Leo and Calvin were all out helping to search for her as well. Blake had shifted into his large grey wolf. Taking off into the forest in the hopes of picking up her scent. He bore Caleb’s instructions for the meat to be dressed, stored, and properly cured with a generous portion to be prepared immediately for the women and children to eat. The rest of the party was remaining on the hunt until they killed enough game to refill the larders.

Its elder trees have witnessed countless life cycles pass. “That war princess PiercingGaze will have welcomed her last outsiders after this hunt,” announces CopperTongue. I took a seat next to Joy and listened to their conversation while focusing on my food. “Do hunters live in caves?” she asked. Atalanta shook her head, “no, in houses.” “Do hunters hunt their own food, or just wolves? Do they eat the wolves?” Atalanta almost choked on her food, “we keep animals, like chickens, and we hunt for deer. Hunters see werewolves as abominations, so they will not eat them. I honestly mostly got scrapes to eat and usually there wasn’t much meat left over.” “Abominations?!” Joy had said, clearly feeling insulted.

The clapping is more muted now, and some of the vampire guests start murmuring and talking to each other with confused expressions. "The Hunt, as you all know, is a tradition that goes back ages. Apart from these clans there were several individual and clanless parties also joined bringing the total of 157 hunters. Now the interesting part is that one of those clanless parties was called 'Eye of Rha'. I don't know exactly what this party was thinking but on that day they were out for blood. There were a lot of things that happened that day.

Now I wouldn't be able to stop staring at him even though he wasn't in here. I walked to the window, staring out of it. Some of the pack members were returning home with their wares in hand, while some children ran here and there, playing tag, and their laughter reached my ears. I saw about three vans with some members pulling out decorative materials from them. I believed it was for the Hunting event, but I never knew it would be this elaborate. “The heat ritual is coming up as well. It's immediately after the hunt.
