Like I blinked, and the library rearranged itself. The books are gone. The shelves stretch higher than they should. The windows are covered, and no light is filtering through. I can’t see the hearth anymore. And in the center of the room, where the woven rug should be, stands a man in white. Pale hair. Pale skin. No scent. No sound. Not a single thread of magic humming from him. But my pulse starts to race. Because I know who he represents. Circle of Silence. The man doesn’t speak. He doesn’t have to.
