"The Kings look... healthy. Too healthy." I leaned back in my chair, sipping a scotch that Miller had personally vetted for poison. Beside me, Ava was a vision of icy composure. She was playing the role of the devoted fiancée to the "broken" King, but her eyes were scanning the room with the precision of a sniper. "Ava!" Justice didn't care about the optics. He didn't care that his father, Daniel, was currently burning a hole in the back of my head with his stare. He threw his arms around Ava, burying his face in her shoulder.

I am under no illusion that Ava intends to help me, especially when she clearly devised this entire situation. “It is not for her, my King, but for your son. This is Maya, Owen’s pet, and he has grown… attached to her. He would be devastated if something happened to her.” I hide my shock. It does actually sound like she’s trying to help me. I risk a glance at the King. He’s looking at me with disgust, which is when it hits me. A prince developing an attachment toward a human is likely one of the worst things he can do. Ava didn’t plead my case; she revealed her mate’s weakness.

He nodded, looking at Vidar as he continued to cough. "O what he he was talking?" I looked for Vidar. "Per what he you called in king?" His square jaw made a crunching noise. He hesitated per one time before in to respond. "He me called of a king because I am one.” My eyebrows if came together. Good, that it was news. "One king in what, exactly?” "King of supernatural. AND, in soon you will be queen." I blinked. "I am really sorry." I shook my head to clear my thoughts. “I think I must have misheard. Did you just say you are the king of the supernatural?”

I couldn’t picture myself getting bound to a heartless woman. “I am the King!” I vociferated, releasing my dominant scent, making everyone around the grounds of torture, bow. The servants began to shake in fear due to my uproar. Prince Byron tilted his head just like Princess Violet. Even Jay kept quiet for once in hours. “I am the King Archie Kovan Of the Wereland. I rule and make commands not listen and obey commands. Do you get that?” I growled. That one was meant for Princess Violet but I didn't bother to specify until I spoke again.

Ava replied. Feyre gave Ava a look of appreciation. "Ava, I am sure you could do better if you put your mind to it, it's your position after all. I will announce you as one of the heirs to the throne, okay?" the king told Ava. Ava had no choice than to nod her head slowly. The king was about to say something when he suddenly paused. He held his chest frantically as he tried to breathe. "Father, are you okay?" Feyre asked in panic.

Even then, she’d have to give herself over to the idea of being mates before she could fully feel the bond, but I was willing to wait for as long as that took.
