Tuesday, the 10th of May. 01:01 pm. The office was dark as it had always been but today, it felt even darker. All the curtains were down and the bulbs in the room had been turned off, the only one left was the one which hung low directly above the desk and it was dim. The ceiling to floor windows which lined the entire wall behind the desk were left totally covered, except for a little space where the curtain was left hanging open to allow the littlest of light stream in.

It’s okay since I only have to put a few more stuff. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” I was about to finish when the light suddenly went out. I was so nervous and anxious it was completely dark I can’t even see a single light. The last time I check it was still golden hour outside but right now I feel like I was locked up in the room. The CEO’s office at Parker Enterprises gleamed with sophistication: glass walls, sleek furniture, and wide floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of the city. Liam Parker, the CEO of Parker Enterprises, sat at his table, his torso leaning casually into the leather swivel chair. The natural light streaming in from the window illuminated his office, adding a bit of life to the otherwise cold office.

But I was barely alive, and I was done being anyone’s prize. It must’ve been hours before the door opened again. It was not the woman, not Julian, but someone else. It was a guy in his thirties, maybe. Tired eyes and no gun in hand. “I’m not here to hurt you,” he said quietly. I kept my blade up. He held up a small package. “Food. Water. And info.” I didn’t drop the blade. “Who are you?” “Name’s Lark. I work in maintenance. But I listen. I know who you are.”

I set my phone down to return to doing my work, now that I have actual work that did not include buying coffee for Rick and picking up his dry cleaning.
