Here I am again, thanking you guys for reading the story and for being a part of this journey. Daughter of the Moon is a series because there are a lot of things that are unsaid. What happened to Ersa? What will happen to Ava and what is the deal with her vision and her precious daughter Nova? Can Ava really change the course of her Daughter's fate?

“Mom, Dad, meet Boulder Bear. I spent a fortune to hire this big man for my protection. He costs, like, a few million dollars! But he more than makes up for it with his sheer might and skills. Like, he once fought a godd*mn brown bear in the forest with his own fists, completely topless, and won! Beating up this pipsqueak? Piece of cak—” Boom. It sounded like a big bag of concrete had just plummeted to the spot next to her. Dust was kicked up into the air, creating a frenzy due to the disturbance and choking the daughter. She sputtered to recover, but the shock and disbelief in her features remained the same. Boulder Bear was lying flat on the ground. Was he dead? He looked dead to her!

Evan and Becky stood at the arbour’s entrance. The light emanating from the portal grew brighter as something moved through the portal itself and materialized there. When the light dimmed, the arbour they now overcrowded it with a black bear standing there on four paws with a knapsack clutched between his teeth. “Gemma, remove the mirror quickly. There’s no room in here for anything else to come through.”

Atwood and his injured pack member, who I now recognize as Noah, lift their heads to look at me as well, and while the Bears are turned toward me, he helps Noah stand. Three Lycans, and three Bears. “Should we have a little snack before the main course?” one of the Bears says. They start to approach me. “Ruby, run,” Atwood says using our mindlink. I stand my ground, hackles raised and teeth bared. “She’s got blood on her muzzle,” another one of the Bears says as they approach me. “How cute.” Behind them, Atwood and Noah stalk forward, preparing to pounce. “If you want me,” I say, “come and get me.”

There were a few hundred werebears all together when everything was said and done, mostly women and children, but there were a few males interspersed throughout them, as well. It seemed like a huge number, but in reality, this was likely all there was left of the Ursidae species, other than the males who had chosen to follow Hunter. It nuzzled her hand gently, trying to offer comfort. Mother rubbed its head gently and offered a weak smile. “How come it's not scared of you?” I asked, shifting the focus of our conversation to satisfy my piqued curiosity. Mother looked down at the deer and laughed softly. It was honest and kind. The first she'd managed since we arrived. “After tonight,” she smiled at me. “You'll learn how to bond with nature too.” “Now where was I?” “Saving the boys,” I reminded her. “Yes,” she nodded slowly, and picked up her story from there. “I took the boys with me and ran. But I was followed. It was at the edge of that cliff that I first met your father, and where he decided the war had to end.”

I sit for a moment stunned then scramble out the back and call Note forward, also shifting and chasing after them. My paws hit the ground and Note scents out Duke following his trail. We speed up to catch up when the ground below me begins to shudder. Note growls but when she looks to the side, she sees the biggest angriest dark bear running beside her. It rattles her for a moment until we realize this is King Mathias. One of the only Kodiak bear shifters left. The ground continues to shudder beneath our paws when a white bear, as equally as big pulls up on our left. Note speeds up but the bears keep pace with her.
