I flipped all the way to the back of the book, and I came across one of the last entries.

Last night, I was able to see my sister once more. I didn't tell her of what I planned to do or that I had already given my daughter up to Nicoli. I know Celene, and she'd never allow me to go through with it, nor would my little nieces and nephew. I was given a task that I was beholden to, and I believe that I have done my part. I kept my word to my mother, my sister, the lives that I have help free, and to myself. I have no fear in my heart as I look death in the eyes, but my resolve always wain when I think of my daughter. My heart breaks knowing she'll have to grow up
