It’s my last link to Aiden. The paramedics tell me to hold on a little longer and I hear one of the nurses snap at Lilith telling her that now is not the time for this behavior. That’s the last thing I heard before my world went black.

The Man with the scar reports to the other men who joined him. Nero’s jaw dropped hearing the words. “Taken down? What does that mean?” He wonders as he tries to listen harder. “All dead, I trust. We will sell these on but why did you not put that small one out of his misery right away? He looks frail and dirty.” One of the men points towards Nero. “He was the last one to come out and put up a fight. I had to knock him out but yes, they are all dead.” The words from the man with the scar hit Nero like a brick over the head.

Before the birthday party even began, Jeannie Collins cast her phone screen onto the large display in the private room. Last man standing The street was silent when the convoy of patrol cars rolled to a stop. Their tires crunched against gravel, headlights cutting through the narrow alleyway like blades. Julian climbed out of the car first, his breathing uneven, his clothes rumpled from hours of panic. Ares and Tessa stepped out behind him, each weighed down by exhaustion and dread, while Richard stood beside the officers, pointing toward a dimly lit warehouse at the far end of the street. “This is the location the tracker pinged last,” one of the officers whispered.

The man smiled. "And Sophia?" Liam froze. "Where is she?" The man chuckled. "Alive." Liam relaxed slightly. "But not for long." "No." The man leaned forward. "You know what I want." Liam looked away. Noah sat beside her. Neither had spoken for several minutes.

“You’ll talk. One way or another. And when you do, I’ll know who’s really behind this.” The man laughed low, bitter, blood dripping from his lip. “You think you scare me?” I leaned so close he could feel my breath. “I don’t want you scared. I want you broken.” He smirked, “Try again next time.” Then he tumbled over in a flash and slammed his head against the hard ground so hard, blood sputtered everywhere and his lifeless eyes stayed wide open as he took his last breath.

"No one goes near the main house because I will know. If there's any business, keep it till we return." The elderly man probably in his fifties nodded at the instructions. He opened the back door of the car and I got in, Christian following afterwards. Anthonio drove smoothly out of the garage and the mansion into the road. Christian continued to clear up his important schedules on his tablet and made some calls to important people. I felt useless just sitting there listening and watching him work. When he ended the calls, he turned to me. "Did you take everything you will be needing?" He asked. I was surprised that he was having a conversation with me.

"How can there be anything left?" "I don’t know," Kyle confessed, his hands moving feverishly over the keypad. "But it’s not just inert. It’s a message." "Put it through," Damien ordered. The Woman’s Last Words The screen flickered to life, revealing the woman’s visage. Her expression was placid, but there was something different—her usual confidence was supplanted by subdued resolve.
