"I'm glad the new slave will not be tortured as the last time. What do you think will happen between them? "That girl will save her." LUMINE MOON My first class is about to end and my stomach did not stop embarrassing me during class. My tummy keeps growling in hunger. The moment the bell rings, I rise from my seat, pick up my sketch pad and art lecturing book, and storm out of the room. I can't bear to be in that room any longer ㅡ I'm too embarrassed!

"And let us not forget the artifact itself. It holds immense power, but we must approach it with caution. We must respect its potential and use it wisely. Our intentions must be pure, focused on bringing about positive change." As the radiant sun gradually descended beneath the distant horizon, its golden light relinquished its hold on the world, making way for the moon to embark on its celestial journey. The lunar orb, with its soft luminescence, began its ascent, casting an enchanting glow over the sprawling landscape. The transformation from day to night was a mesmerizing spectacle, painting the surroundings with an ethereal ambiance that stirred the depths of Scarlett's being.

Silver mist swirled around them, images flickering in the air like ghosts of the past. A grand city beneath a silver moon. Towering spires carved from pale stone. People dressed in flowing garments, their eyes glowing like stars. Lillian’s chest tightened. She knew this place. Flames. The city burned. The people screamed. Shadows poured over the land, creatures of darkness tearing through the Moonborn like wolves among sheep. And at the center of it all— A woman, standing atop a shattered temple, silver light bursting from her hands as she fought against the darkness.

I said resolutely. Papa flashed me a proud smile and nodded with me. It was quiet for a moment, and I could tell that he was trying to figure out how to say something. I squeezed his hand reassuringly. I felt the tension in the room rise. I looked to Xander who looked at me with uncertainty. Whatever we were about to hear was not going to be good. “I was not supposed to present myself early, but the mission would fail if I did not. The Moon has grown impatient, a flaw of hers grounded in the misconception that she is the ultimate authority. Ezekiel made a deal with her, and she surely does love her deals.”

Then the strangest thing happened, slowly the moon began to descend from the sky right before my eyes and as it did, it got small and smaller until finally, it came in through the open roof and went straight into the orb that was in the woman’s hand. The orb gave off a soft silvery glow at first before it exploded with a bright light that made me shield my eyes. The eye of the statue lit up too and then it spoke to me, “Javier, the first mate of the chosen one.” I still shielded my eyes until the light dimmed and I could see again, “Who the hell are you? What am I doing here?” “I am Lunar, the goddess of the moon and the mother of all werewolves, Lycans, and otherwise.”

The moment my foot touched the center, the mist snapped upward like a wall, surrounding us. And the world changed. The valley dissolved. We were standing in a mirrored realm—a place where night had already fallen, even though the sun had still been up seconds before. The moon overhead was full and blood red. Where blood meets moonlight. I barely had time to process it before the wind screamed—and shadows erupted from the mist. Creatures. Dozens of them. Wraiths made of darkness and bone, snarling and fast. “Defensive circle!” Lucian shouted.

Chapter 17 The Price Of Loyalty Quinton’s POV The moon hung low in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the forest. My paws thudded against the damp earth as I ran, my thoughts racing faster than my legs could carry me. The conversation with Selene and the mysterious man still echoed in my mind—Fiona born of the shadows? A war between light and darkness? None of it made sense, and yet every word had burrowed itself deep into my soul.

“You will never know the joy of being a father. You will never find peace. I curse you all.” My head tilted back, my eyes staring at the ceiling as my world darkened. --- I opened my eyes to a strange, soft light. The pain was gone, replaced by a sense of weightlessness. A gentle hand caressed my cheek, and I turned to see a figure bathed in silver light. “Who are you?” I asked, my voice trembling. The figure smiled. “I am the Moon Goddess.” My breath hitched. “Why are you here? Am I dead?”

As soon as we reach the pack house, I find Helena and the shock on her face when we tell her what we found out is also telling. She makes her way to one of the back shelves and pulls out a book that looks very old. Paging through it without a word, she frowns until she turns the book around. I read the passage she is pointing to and for a second wonder if this poor girl knows every passage of every book in the library. It must have been incredibly lonely for her before we came along. I look at Silas as he reads and he nods. The passage tells of a Lycan that took a young hunter hostage. They somehow ended up being destined mates and neither our kind of her family would accept it.

The river flowed towards the sea, tall trees stood on the side and the moon was hanging up in the sky. "This is a nice place," she took a sip from the bottle. "And the moon is beautiful. I don't think I've ever looked at the moon this closely before. Those dark spots are the craters in the moon, did you know?" "No, that's Jack and Jill who went up there to fetch a pail of water... See, they splashed the water though," he pointed and Jacques Laughed. "It looks that way, isn't it?" "I am glad you like this place, Jerlina," he kissed her forehead.
