White-hot pain bloomed again, and I clenched my teeth so hard I thought they might shatter. They hauled me to my feet and shoved me forward, past more cages. A bear shifter snarled weakly as I passed, but the sound fizzled out before it could fully form. He was a massive creature, even in his diminished state, but the collar around his neck sparked intermittently, sending shudders through his body. His eyes met mine for a fleeting moment,.. filled with rage, sorrow, and desperation, before he slumped back against the bars.

"...but you can redeem yourself by getting us to a doctor, fast. Please, we need to save her life, fast." Qadaq's lips twisted into a sneer as he considered Melinda's request. "Well, if that be the case, there's a lion's den not far from here," he chuckled. "But as the name implies - Lion's den. Only lions, werelions are allowed entrance… not any one of you lots — you tawnyless weaklings." He sneered, a sly grin displaying on his face. "Hahaha." The other guardians also burst into laughter.

The shield was about the same height as Sheldon himself, flashing with runes and emitting a powerful spiritual energy. Sheldon leaped into the air, swinging the spiritual shield toward the lions. With a loud thump, one of the lions collapsed to the ground. Gobu drew various runes with his hands, casting a high-level chain thunder spell. The thunder rang loudly with a blinding glow, striking down the remaining two lions. A cutlass appeared in Kaxx's hands, and he brought it down on the two lions. Within a few strokes, both lions had been cut into pieces.

I went to the kitchen to find Ophelia, Lily's caregiver. She told me that Mario had resigned after the funeral. I didn't notice him leave. I was preoccupied with father's death. I talked to Axel, and he confirmed his resignation. But I was baffled. He's been working with father for forty years. Then suddenly, he will leave after his death? Seems strange.

Her fingers tapped quickly on the keyboard, and soon a string of code appeared on the screen, scrolling rapidly.

I gasped and fell back, when the pain became unbearable. Great. Even arguing requires extra strength these days. How convenient. “I do not need a bodyguard.” “Oh, you do,” He replied in a tone, signaling finality. He faced me squarely, and I couldn’t unsee the disappointment that shone brightly in his eyes.
