Jo stepped inside. Books. Thousands of them. Stacked in spiral towers that reached toward a glass dome above, letting filtered moonlight spill over the marble floor. She felt a hum beneath her feet, like the library was alive with secrets. She walked slowly between the shelves, fingertips brushing spines of books bound in hide, bark, even ice itself. Some had no titles, only symbols. Her eyes caught one symbol that looked eerily like the crest Victor once wore on his sword. A chill snaked up her back.

"The truth-fire burns those unworthy of its secrets. It marks those who are meant to know. The mark remains until the truth is fully embraced." He looked from the book to my bandaged hand. "What truth are you hiding, Valerie? What did that book show you before it burned?" My heart beat fast. I picked up my notepad with my good hand. It was just old words. I didn't understand them. It was about symbols and magic. It scared me. Noah glared at me. "It scared you? Or it told you something you don't want me to know?" It scared me, I wrote again. The book burned in my hands. I was afraid.

I didn't waste time going toward the doors and they opened revealing the sight of a mini library which was more like a library of potions for I could see weird-looking glasses with liquid or smoke in them and the books were old as well. I avoided the potions, him doing witchcraft wasn't new and I went straight to the books. I picked one up and flipped through the pages barely understanding the weird writing on them and was about to drop it when I flipped to the last page and saw something.
