That look in her eyes was too familiar. I took another swallow of beer and forced myself to look away. She didn’t need me crowding her. Didn’t need me adding weight to what she already carried. Still, I kept her in my peripheral vision. The night dragged on. Brothers came and went, deals whispered in corners, laughter breaking into shouts and back again. Lucy stayed quiet, her water glass barely touched, like drinking too much might make her lose her grip. After a while, she turned on the stool, watching the room the way I was. Studying. Measuring. I wondered what she saw—monsters, maybe, or men she couldn’t tell apart.

The clinking of chains echoed through the empty hallway. Inside, Lucy was tied to a bed, with all kinds of strange equipment scattered around her. When she saw us, her eyes brimmed with tears. Her lips quivered, but no sound came out. It turned out her mouth had been stuffed shut, and she couldn't make a sound. I rushed forward and started tearing at the ropes binding her. Elaine hurried in right behind me. I yanked the cloth out of Lucy's mouth. She broke into violent coughing, and tears streamed down her pale face.

Those eyes that still caused her heart to bang loudly. They looked like she had seen it somewhere before and she had paired deeply into it. Or she was just overthinking it. "How can I even still care after what he did to my daughter!" Lucy snapped with a loud hiss. A stare at Arizona who remained sleeping on the couch caused her chest to tighten painfully, once again and a flicker of sweat shattered all over her face. Lucy's fears of the new world that was being thrown into replacing her old fear as eyes watered, staring blankly at the space before her.

I fought it at first, but then Lucy was born, and suddenly safety felt like something holy. The birth was fast. Faster than I expected. Gavin drove me to the hospital, Jack kept yelling from the back seat about the bag we forgot, and Harrison held my hand the whole way, calm and solid even when I threw up in his lap. Lucy came into the world pink, loud, and absolutely perfect. She looked like Lyra the moment she opened her eyes, but with Gavin’s nose and a tiny fist that latched around Harrison’s thumb like she was claiming him on sight.

“If you ask them about it, you will have to tell them about seeing me. If you do that, I swear they will pack everything up and move. Meaning you will not see me for a while.” As he finished speaking, I noticed his eyes had gone bright red and you didn't hear the owls anymore. “I’ve always trusted you more than my parents so why would I ask them, since you have already said they have been lying to me.” When I looked away from Marcus, I noticed there were about 7 pairs of vibrant colored eyes surrounding us. Slowly another set appeared but were purple with gold specks.

“He can find out who those rogues are and what they want.” Their eyes widen. “What?” “He can do that too? Great.” “I know, right?” I roll my eyes. “Free him and his men. I’m going to see Lucy.” They nod and rush off. **** Lucy is sitting alone, disoriented and completely lost in thought. She looks like she’s unraveling. I know that look. I’ve seen it before, how her eyes would sting with tears anytime someone mentioned her past. And now, it’s all come crashing back.

“Lucy, you are awake?” Jane voice filled the hospital room when she saw Lucy open her eyes. She had been watching over her throughout the night. Lucy squinted her eyes due to the bright sunlight that seeped into the hospital room through the window. After getting use to the brightness, she finally open her eyes. What greeted her were Jane’s concerned filled eyes, looking at her like a mother who was worried about her sick child. “Jane?” Lucy was surprise to see Jane. All that happened yesterday and where she was at the moment hadn’t registered in her brain yet.

Her face is all red and her nose is flaring as she kept giving Jacob a sharp look. When Lucy scanned the house, she found me standing and smiling wide to her. Her mood immediately changed from angry to glinting eyes with happiness. Her eyes widened and her mouth drops that I can't help but giggled. "Ashi? Oh my God! ASHI!" She was about to run towards my direction but was stopped abruptly. Jacob held her elbow and tugged her back to his side like she's a light piece. "What now?!" she shouted at him and I heard Jacob's growl. But Lucy just looks at him fiercely. Not backing down with their stare contest.

Emma She gasped loudly as the photograph slipped from her trembling fingers and hit the floor. Lucas was standing in the doorway, staring at her with a deeply annoyed and angry look. "What the fuck are you doing in here, maid?" he demanded, his voice much louder this time. "I-I was j-just..." He did not let her finish. "How dare you touch Alexander's belongings! If he finds out about this, you will be thrown out of this house immediately—if he doesn't kill you first!" he roared, taking long, intimidating strides toward her and forcing her to back away.
