The door to the room that was open closed immediately. Meanwhile, Lucy was still in the same position. Her eyes were fixed on the door of the room where Ed Shane and Lilyana entered. One of her feet hit the ground in annoyance with Ed Shane and his father-in-law. Her eyes glanced sharply at the bedroom door which was still closed. Lucy deliberately cleared her throat quite loudly. A few seconds later, the sound of pleasure was heard from the household assistant's room. It seemed that from within, the two people who were fighting their strength were feeling anxious because other people knew about their actions.

Although she had answered with a calm face, Ethan had heard the insult in her statement from a like away, Ethan marched from the entrance of the room, right to where Lucy was standing "I believe you heard me right the first time." She answered and looked up from her laptop. Immediately she looked up into Ethan's eyes, Ethan knew that he was a goner. There was a burning fire swirling in the deep blue orbs of her eyes and although he already knew that Lucy was no ordinary woman, he was more convinced when he beheld her eyes.

"can you hear me?" lucy's eyes flickered open, and she looked up at me. for a moment, our eyes locked, and i felt a surge of connection to her. and then, lucy's eyes closed again, and she nodded weakly. "i'm here, lucy," i said softly, taking her hand in mine. "i'm not going anywhere. you're safe."

That look in her eyes was too familiar. I took another swallow of beer and forced myself to look away. She didn’t need me crowding her. Didn’t need me adding weight to what she already carried. Still, I kept her in my peripheral vision. The night dragged on. Brothers came and went, deals whispered in corners, laughter breaking into shouts and back again. Lucy stayed quiet, her water glass barely touched, like drinking too much might make her lose her grip. After a while, she turned on the stool, watching the room the way I was. Studying. Measuring. I wondered what she saw—monsters, maybe, or men she couldn’t tell apart.

Brian mourned. “Argh!” Screams came from a close room. Joe ran out to check out what had prompted the shout which was exhibited by Lucy. “Mouse! Mouse.” She screamed as she ran towards Joe. “Nice?” Joe repeated after her. “Yes it ran into your room” Lucy alerted. Eric came out to join them, he had also heard Lucy's scream before walking out of his room. Lucy ran to go ran brooms, so they could kill the mice. She handed one broom each to her sons and persuaded them to get into the room.
