And if last night was anything to go by, I’d need a helmet, armor, and probably a professional stress-relief team just to make it through. I peeked over the pillow cautiously. Dream, of course, was still in the penthouse, probably watching me, probably aware of my every heartbeat. I didn’t even know if he realized what he’d done or if he was just… enjoying it. My phone buzzed. The system timer now ticked down: 11 hours, 59 minutes remaining. I groaned again, kicking the blanket off with dramatic flair. This mission was going to be a disaster, and I was already failing spectacularly.

I scream that they may have tattooed me, but I’m not one of them and I don’t want to go on anymore stupid missions. It works better than I hoped. Carden doesn’t stop by for days on end leaving me with my nightmares. They become stronger with each passing day. I wake up breathless. I wake up crying. I wake up with my fists clenched to the point of having bloody nail marks dug into my palms. I wake up with a scream. And then I don’t wake up at all.

I asked, squinting my eyes trying to get a glimpse of the stranger. “Oh please I know more than your name bunny, I know everything about you” he said taking two more steps. “So you are a stalker then, how long have you been stalking me?” I panicked as I took more steps back. “I’m not a stalker bunny, I’m your nightmare” the voice said and just like the wind he disappeared into the shadows like he was never there, my heart sank into my stomach as his last words echoed in my head. I’m your nightmare.

POV Sammy I let what Cash's friend and Locke had told us sink in. If they were telling the truth, Kitty was in more danger than we thought. This trip was only going to take a couple of days. Luckily, the Vampires had a road system cleared the entire way down since they had been clearing roads since the start of the Nightmare. They used them to find humans that wanted to be turned. I realized that they were probably taking some humans to feed off of since we all needed blood but I didn't want to think about that part. I couldn't.

Within seconds, my eyes grow heavy and sleep takes over, pulling me into a whirlwind of nightmares throughout the night. I'm falling through a dark hole and I desperately try to cling onto the sides to pull myself back up. Screams echo around me and I slap my hands over my ears, wanting to block the noise out but it only intensifies it. My fathers voice pleads for help. Trevor's voice is loud and vicious. My mother's voice is extremely high pitched, calling my name over and over again.

“For some, I guess I would. Sweetheart, this is not something I would want to bring you into, but I have no other choice.” “I get that. Always trying to protect me. However, this time I think I need to know so I can help you. Something is clearly bothering you.” She said as she looked into the golden pools of his eyes, and she almost forgot why he was there. She had to shake her head, and she knew she could not get distracted by his eyes and the wonders contained in them. “This is not something that is normal, either.” He stated as he looked at her. “A nightmare.”

No one except the man. The lights flickered. Static buzzed in the bulbs. Electricity crackled. The carriage was plunged into darkness, just a split second of impenetrable black that filled my mouth, my nose, my ears, like thick, dank water, choking me, drowning me. When the lights exploded back into life, I saw it. A sheen of silvery skin on the man's cheek, harsh white reflecting off scarred flesh. It was a brief flicker of a bad dream. A touch of a nightmare; there and then gone again so quickly that I had to blink away the haze, but I knew I'd seen it, I'd seen him .

[Welcome to Eternal Nightmare. Survival is victory.] The cold, robotic female voice blasted through the dark while I was sprawled on the couch doomscrolling. The next second, a white flash nuked my vision and forced my eyes shut. When I opened them again, my living room had straight-up rage quit and turned into a blood-red wasteland. "Okay, what the hell?" I squinted and spotted my six-foot-two husband, Adrian Chase, already doing the whole protective-dad thing with one arm around our son.

He would have noticed it at once if he had just turned back to look at me, but he never did. Time passed by in seconds. Lynetter never showed up at all during this period, and I kept fainting and waking up repeatedly. Soon, the countdown timer showed I had only five seconds left to live. I suddenly heard the sound of someone punching in the code at the door lock, and I jolted awake at once. A split second later, my phone lit up next to me with a text message from Troy. "You fucking liar, Felicia Cooper! Your brother's dead now because the doctors failed to save him! I hope you spend the rest of your life wallowing in regret!"
