The Monster Inside

On the Northwind Trail, just before sunrise, my flashlight cut across the inside of the SUV and landed on five lifeless bodies. My hands shook as I dialed 911. "Hello? I'm on Route 296, the Northwind Trail. Everyone in my car… is dead." The operator's voice was calm but quick. "Please confirm your location. Officers are on their way." My words dropped heavy and flat, like stones hitting the ground. "I'm on Route 296, about three miles east of the mountain pass. The plate number is NA318X. Five people inside the car are dead… and I'm the only one alive."

Her dream was always marrying a prince but she never imagined she would be sold to a Monster, a cold hearted Killer. After he rescued his former lover from the scene, I was burned to a crisp alongside the baby inside me.

I gulped as my body was visibly trembling. I wanted to run away but I couldn’t. His eyes had these magnets which were attracting every fiber inside my body towards him. “Y-your…y-your…” A lone tear escaped my eyes with my lower lip trembling. “My what?” He rasped as his black raven eyes were dwelling inside my emerald ones as I whimpered when he clenched my hairs in a fist at the back of my neck. “Your whore.” I admitted and he smashed his lips against mine. “Let me treat you like one then.” He growled inside my mouth.

"This is my first time... it hurts... oh, it’s bleeding..." Allie winced as a cut from the kitchen knife throbbed on her finger. Liam glanced at her, his face full of concern, and applied the medicine with a sharp, almost angry tone: "I’ve told you not to go near the kitchen! Just tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll make it for you!" For Allie, her 20th birthday gift was discovering her boyfriend's betrayal with her best friend in bed. Furious, she turned her back on Nick and married Liam Hart, the city’s most influential and untouchable man. Hearing the voice on the other end of the line, Violet Hudson felt a small knot of tension unwind inside her. "Alright. Thank you." "You're welcome. This is our job. Please rest assured—no one will ever suspect a thing." With that guarantee, she exhaled, the weight on her chest easing just a little. After confirming the final details once more, she ended the call and pushed open the door to the private room. The noise inside had been a constant hum, a mix of voices overlapping, but the moment she stepped in, silence fell like a curtain.
