As they disappeared into the shadows of the forest, the last broken Gamma stirred behind them, whispering into his communicator— “They’re alive… and she’s not just a wolf.”

He questions. The Gamma stared at Velmont. “The troll took her and held her head tightly. I tried to save her—” He explains weakly. “Is she dead?” He asks in concern. His voice expressed despair. Velmont and Gertrude stole a glance at each other. Their faces convey bewilderment. Gertrude leans close to Gamma Sevy. “She’s alive. She's fully recovered for a few days now.” She said assuringly. The Gamma smiled. “Good to know that.” He uttered in relief.

But then, as we were about to move, we heard a female voice. “I heard the true reason for this gathering is because the Alpha found his mate, and is about to introduce her to everyone.” the Voice continued, “I also heard she is mute! How can we allow a mute to lead us?! I feel so angry right now!”

I begin tentatively, meeting Gamma Everly’s solemn gaze. Gamma Everly lets out a slow, sad sigh. Suddenly, I can see with perfect clarity the ache that’s been tearing her up from the inside out. “I killed my last mate.”
