As Chapter 142 closes, the "High-Gate" remains closed, but the "Ground" is opening. Avery Vane-Thorne is standing at the "Beginning of the End," but this time, there is no "Universal-Creditor" waiting at the finish line.

You've won the first night." ​"It is not about winning," I whispered, looking at the broken gate. "It is about surviving the transition. He is the one person that I know would pull through for me when I’m in trouble and I know he is going to help me defeat that monster, Silas Sullivan. “Nathan is here now, tell us what is going on princess” Papa spoke as soon as the passports were in my hands. I could see he is anxious and so is mom.

Nathan screamed as the glass shattered, a scream that was silenced by a sharp thud below. The silence lingered for a few heartbeats. Then the hall erupted, screams and gasps hitting her frozen, shattered frame; still, she couldn't look away. What just happened? Had to be a dream. The new Alpha glared down below as though he wanted to revive Nathan just to kill him again. Iris felt her chest tighten when he looked back at her, but to her surprise, those cold greys softened. But...why?

“Lyra, get back!” “I’m not leaving you!” “Then listen!” His voice broke through the roar. “The Gate’s feeding on us — on you. If it binds now, it’ll destroy everything!” Magnus’s laughter echoed across the courtyard. “Let it bind. A new world needs new gods.” The chains brightened, their light blinding. I couldn’t think — only feel. The mark on my hand pulsed, answering the Gate’s call. The air thickened with voices — hundreds of them — some pleading, some singing, all whispering one word:

“If we wait, the world burns without me. If we go too fast, I burn before it’s ready.” Elias drew her close. “Then we go at your pace. But I’m not letting you walk into that scar alone.” In the early morning, thunder rumbled—not from the sky, but from the ground. The earth shifted beneath their feet. And then came the sound no one wanted to hear again: The Gate’s hum. But this time, it didn’t come from the east. It came from the west. And it came with a name. Serena heard it in her mind.

“What’s behind that Gate doesn’t just want to be known—it wants to become the only thing ever known.” Selena’s pulse drummed against her skin as the words settled. She looked down at her hands and saw threads unraveling from her veins, rewriting her bones with language older than creation. Calem’s presence flickered beside her, like a lighthouse swallowed by storm. The Gate exhaled again, and the sound was a child’s laugh—followed by a scream that made the mist bleed. She didn’t know if she was standing still or if the world had simply stopped turning around her. All she knew was that the lock was no longer waiting. It was choosing.

“We fight. Together.” I kissed his forehead. “I love you.” He knew what that meant. “No,” he said, shaking his head. “Don’t, fi.....don’t.” But I was already moving. Past Elandra. Past the circle. Past the edge of what the living should know. Rowan didn’t stop me. Mia watched like she was watching a funeral and I walked straight into the Gate. I wasn’t in a place. I was the place. My skin hummed. My bones cracked open. Memories unraveled.
