Jace wasn’t there. Another cramp rolled through me, sharper this time. I reached instinctively for the call button—but stopped when I noticed someone at the far end of the room. A nurse. She stood beside the IV pole, adjusting the drip bag. Her hair was tucked neatly into her cap, face mostly covered with a surgical mask and goggles. Blue gloves, white scrubs. She looked focused, and efficient. I assumed it was the nurse Linda the doctor said would be monitoring me while he stepped away.

I blink the stupid tears away and give him a small smile. I don't pull away from him. I need his touch... Not to mention my legs still feel like they are going to disappear on me. I don't know if it was from the attempted rape, shock, or whatever the hell John drugged me with, but my entire body is shaky. The nurse looks at me up and down as I approach, and for a moment her professional mask slips and she looks really upset before she places a strained smile. "Let's get you looked at," she says gently. "My name is Evelyn, and I'll be your nurse tonight."

Just as Chloe turned away from the mirror, contemplating her progress, the door swung open, and a nurse entered the room. Startled, Chloe quickly composed herself and spoke with urgency, "Excuse me, could you please call the doctor for me? I have something important to discuss with him." The nurse, wearing a kind smile, nodded understandingly. "Of course, I'll contact the doctor right away," she reassured Chloe. With a sense of purpose, the nurse turned on her heels, leaving the room while promising to fulfill Chloe's request.

I pulled my hand away from her grasp and clasped my knees with my palms. "I think you just need someone who will make you realize all your dumb choices," she grumbled, crossing her arms above her chest. Flitting my eyes in front, a nurse stood before us. Her lips were curled to a nice smile, and the blush plastered on her cheeks made her face looked swollen. She wore a navy-blue scrub dress, a clipboard wrapped in her arm, while her other hand was tucked in the pocket of her clothing. When she looked down at the clipboard she was holding, I darted Emma a look which she returned by shrugging.

She has a way of making even the scariest sniffles seem manageable. Sister Mary, our quiet and thoughtful radiologist, helps people from our town and all the nearby villages. She has an uncanny ability to peer inside and diagnose whatever might be troubling someone. It's like she has x-ray vision, truly! And of course, we have Sister Janet, our steady anesthesiologist, and Sister Avery, our sharp-eyed ophthalmologist. Each of them brings such vital skills to our little medical family. And me? Well, I like to think I have the most important position of them all: I'm a nurse.

I hear one of the doctors say to Clark who looks more worried. I spend the next one and a half hour doing multiple tests as the doctors examine my symptoms. “Hi” a female nurse who looks to be in early 20’s says. “My name is Reyna and I’ll be your personal nurse while you’re admitted. I’ll be taking you to your room now and the doctor will brief you on your test results” she explains with a smile as she helps me onto the wheelchair.

"Your boss claims to be her husband, whereas based on data that the hospital has from the patient's family, Miss Dinar does not have a husband, she is a widow whose husband died. I hope you two leave this hospital and don't create chaos." The nurse was very stubborn, if Jian could, he would like to exchange the nurse's head so that he would be easy to compromise with.

Relief washed over Larissa as she took a moment to catch her breath, her heart rate gradually returning to normal. As she left the emergency ward and made her way to the nurses' station, Larissa couldn't help but reflect on the demanding nature of her job. The constant interruptions, the lack of sleep, and the emotional toll it took on her were all part of the nurse's reality. And yet, amidst the exhaustion and stress, there was a sense of fulfillment that came from making a difference in people's lives.

The woman shouted. "Hold on!" Jayden instructed his men. "I have your daughter with me? Who is your daughter?" Jayden muttered, wincing in pain as he tried adjusting to look into the woman's face. "I'm sorry to interrupt sir, but I need to inject you with this pain reliever now. You are in so much pain." The other nurse said, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. "And who gave you the permission to speak? Aren't you afraid?" Joe said, walking towards the nurse with a deadly look on his face but to his surprise the young nurse didn't appear to be scared. Instead she glared at Joe as he came closer to her.

I said, allowing myself to laugh. “That’s a nice sound.” We both turned to see a nurse standing by the door. Around my age and fit, her blonde hair was tied back in a severe pony-tale that only showed her graceful neck more. “Hello,” Jenny said, taking the lead, “and who might you be?” “Nurse Anderson,” she said, her arms still crossed in front of her ample chest. “Of course, I’m sorry, Jenny is just really protective,” I explained. “That’s no bad thing, darlin’,” nurse Anderson said with a wink, “you can stay if you like, but I need to go over Mrs. Peterson’s routine.”
