I Was Here

I Was Here

‘I am not a baby anymore, Mama. The pale yellow light which comes from the moon lamp makes me see Mallory’s face in the dark room. She has small eyes with bigger and darker eyeballs, similar to a doll. Her face is round and a little chubby. And she has a flat nose and thin pink pair of lips. ‘Close your eyes pretty Mallory, I’ll tell you a story.’ I said and lightly pinch her small nose. ‘Once upon a time there were two children named Hansel and Gretel. Their stepmother abandoned them in the forest. But Hansel is a smart kid, he drops pebbles on the ground on their way to the forest…’

The Wolf King and the Wilted Flower

The Wolf King and the Wilted Flower

Golden doors that never opened from the inside. The stories came from Freya. Every night before bed, her mother would tell her about the world before King Valir. About streams that sang through ancient trees. About fairies who slept beneath mushrooms. About wolves that watched from a distance but never harmed the Ronas. About Ronas who grew flowers because they loved beauty—not because people paid fortunes to own it. Maya used to beg for the stories over and over again. She wanted details. What color were the houses? How tall were the trees?

I loved this story. It had a plot of why she left and didn’t come for 5 years. Abagail was a strong independent mother who worked hard to get a degree and money for her mom’s surgery. Lucy was the selfish less person. She knew Liam loved someone else and helped the two reunite with his twins also.

Riptide

Riptide

I asked and she nodded eagerly earning a smile from me. "This is a very special story so if I tell you, you must always remember it," "I will," she promised, holding out her pinky and I smiled locking mine with hers. My mind began searching for the best way to tell the story without boring her to death as she leaned back against the arm of the chair looking at me. "So a long time ago, there was a King and a Queen who ruled a Kingdom with people who looked just like us, they all had beautiful long locs, and the longer the locs the more respected you were in the Kingdom,"

The Good Princess and The Wicked King

The Good Princess and The Wicked King

Although she was almost physically flawless, there was a look in her eyes that just screamed of trouble… something about the deep purple irises that brought her ill intentions to the surface. "I beg your pardon." Elaine's father, King Luther, scolded. "Excuse me Miss, but what my husband is trying to say is that you can't just barge into the castle and party without an official invite." Queen Thea tried to explain as politely as possible. "Zip it Queeny." The woman snapped. "Don't you dare speak to my wife like that! Who the hell are you anyway?" The King raged.

How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

I don’t think it worked. “I did kill the Mouse King,” I said. “That is a fact. But the truth is, it wasn’t the scary monster everyone gave me credit for. It wasn’t a gigantic beast all teeth and claws. It was a little mouse, quite old and frail, that I stabbed in the face until he was dead. Technically, it was the Mouse King, just in his refractory period when he’s breeding and has no strength left for fighting.” I looked over at Kizwat who looked confused. Anger and disappointment would probably soon follow. The Guildmaster and his men were listening intently.

The King's Queen

The King's Queen

She looks at me, "You used to visit sometimes, don't you remember?" I shake my head, "If I did, I wouldn't be asking questions." "I was the Queen's maid and Henry's nanny." My jaw drops and that's when the memories come flooding back, the gifts, the trips to the castle and the little brunette boy, which used to chase me around the castle and play hide and look with, it's Henry. "You remember now?" I nod, "Yes." Henry walks into the living room and tells Nana that the car is waiting outside, she kisses his cheek goodbye and gives Henry a hug and leaves. The sudden realization that I'm left with the king hits me, and I am nervous like sweaty palms nervous.
