The memory was seared into her brain. It flooded her with guilt and shame but it wasn’t enough to push away the butterflies in her stomach or the sweet throbbing in her neck where he had marked her with his teeth. It was short, intense and with a person whom she had never met before, a person that was like an abomination to werewolves. A human. Her heart leapt as she thought of her little act of rebellion. It left a bitter-sweet after taste in her mouth – if her kin were to find out –

Extinct. Adam’s jaw flexed as he turned his gaze toward the horizon where the sea still glimmered red. His voice dropped, rough and certain. “We have to go to the origin.” I swallowed hard. “The origin of what?” “The origin of rogues,” the man answered before Adam could. “Where all exile and madness began. The birthplace of rebellion. And the seat of the Rogue King.” The world tilted under me. “You mean we’re going to… him?”

"As long as we do it together." The horizon was clear, but the map in the Chronos-Vault was glowing with a final, pulsing name. It wasn't a brother, a king, or a god. It was a place. The Origin-Well. The source of the first drop of Aether. The place where the first White Wolf was created. And the place where the Pact must go to face the finality of the lineage. "The long road ahead," Félix whispered. "The only road there is," I replied.

Finally, he released his grip on my waist and gently pushed me backward to sit back down on the chair. “Okay” he sighed heavily. “Okay?” I repeated, “Yep” he paused, blew out a breath, and began. “About a month before you woke up, we had some Weres visit. They came completely unannounced and with more Weres than a usual delegation. They were from a pack in Italy” Gunner explained, and I nodded along as he spoke. “The pack they came from is called Origin Wolf. History books say that the pack was created by one of the children from Lycaon, therefore they see themselves as royalty”

The white wolf sat at the highest point of the city, untouched by the fire. Watching. “This isn’t a simulation,” I said quietly. Kai didn’t answer immediately. His hand tightened around mine, grounding but tense. I felt it through the bond, that split in him widening again. The part of him that remembered this place. The part that had stood here before. “No,” he said finally. “It’s the origin.” The word settled into my bones. Origin.The first mistake. The first creation. The first fracture in time. A howl split the sky. Not pain. Not warning. Summoning. The white wolf rose.

But there. "The Origin," I whisper. "What are you?" My mother finds me there. "Seraphina, you have not slept in days." "I cannot sleep. There is something calling me. Something I do not understand." She studies my face, her silver eyes dark with worry. "The Origin is not a place. It is not a being. It is the source. The beginning. The first spark from which everything else was born." "The first spark of what?" "Of us. Of the wolves. Of the moon. Of everything." She takes my hands. "The Origin is where we came from. The moment when the first wolf opened their eyes and saw the silver light."

The place where the roots were kept. Where people came when they needed what only the origin could give. Still. Rising. Always.

“I did not share everything earlier because some of it concerns Selina directly and I wanted to tell her separately. Not in a room full of people.” “Tell me now,” I said. “In this room. With these people.” My mother looked at me for a moment. Then she nodded once. “The origin point is not a place,” she said. “It is not behind a physical door or inside a sealed location. It exists inside the completed veil bond itself.” She paused. “Between the two people who carry it. When the bond reaches full strength it opens a connection to the origin point from inside the bond. Not from outside. From within.”

She didn’t answer. I stepped beside her. Close enough that I could see the lightly pulsing shimmer beneath her skin—the flashes of gold of the shard that no longer just resided within her, but in a way, was her. “What is this place?” I asked. She finally blinked. “The origin tomb.” The name fell heavily. “Origin?” She turned to me, and for once, there was something brittle behind her expression. “Before there were shards. Before Kaelen carved bloodlines. “This is where they stored what could not be rewritten.” My heart stumbled. “You mean them? The first wolves?”

The ancient layer responded. The foundation responded. The invitation responded. Everything resonated together. Not through synchronization. Through recognition. The unknown awareness spoke quietly. “Origin was never a beginning.” Silence. The forgotten presence answered. “It was a condition.” Silence. Emma felt tears spill down her face. Because somehow— that felt true. Origin was not the first thing that happened. It was the condition that allowed anything to happen. The deeper response continued remembering. And with every moment— more became visible. Not information.
