“Then shall we step outside?” “I’d love to.” Throwing a twenty on the bar, I get up and then wait as Atticus gets up as well. And when he begins to make his way through the bar, I begin to follow. Once outside, we continue to move, making our way away from the busy streets of Boston to a more secluded area, and when we arrive, Atticus whirls around, producing the same damn sword as before, and proceeds to attack. Dodging his first blow, I draw on my own powers and cloak myself so he isn’t able to see me. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, I attack, grabbing him by the arm and then throwing, so he crashes into a tree.

The whole school was soaking with excitement and anxiety about everything that had happened. By lunchtime, they couldn’t take it anymore and burst through the doors of classrooms like tea seeping through a sieve. Brian was the boy who seemed to have a heart, and Charles was the other bully with a heart darker than sin itself. Charles had made sure I hit the ground, while Brian wanted to give me a chance, perhaps out of pity and guilt.

He tossed me onto the wet, cold pavement outside the gate, the chains clinking shut behind me. I lay there for a moment, like a sinner exiled from heaven for unseen sins, my knees and elbows scraped raw. Slowly, I pushed myself up and trudged forward, a zombie in the deluge. The rain battered my skin like an unrelenting foe, forming blisters on my bare feet with every step. The freezing cold gnawed at me, but it couldn't touch the burning void in my chest.

Vincent stood frozen, his claws dripping and his eyes blazing gold—while Maria’s lifeless body lay at his feet. On his other hand, he held the journal—it was writing on its own once more. The words glowed in blood-red ink: “Chapter Two Hundred and One: The Bride’s Arrest.” The police lights flashed intensely as guns were raised and voices shouted, “Hands up!”
