Third Person POV Felicity pushes open the door to The Painted Cup, a cozy café that serves the best hot chocolate in the neighborhood. Mia skips ahead, her ponytail bouncing, excited about the promised treat. "Can I get the one with extra marshmallows?" Mia asks. "Of course, sweetie. Go find us a table while I order." Felicity smiles at the little girl. Mia scans the café, which is moderately busy with the afternoon crowd. Her eyes lands on a boy about her age sitting alone at a corner table, reading a book. He looks sad, and Mia doesn't like seeing people sad.

“The parents will be there too, so for now, I’ll leave it to you and Haruka.” Ms. Hasegawa gave her a wry smile. “I’ll check how much of each material we need before the end of the day.” With that, I returned to my station. After straightening the shelves and processing the books returned through the overnight drop box, I began making a list of supplies. *Tissue paper, Halloween stickers, milk cartons…* It would have been more authentic to hollow out real pumpkins and turn them into lanterns, but that was hardly practical for preschool children.

Cassie POV As I walked through the front door of The Bean House, the tiny bell attached to the door rang out. I was immediately hit by the smell of fresh coffee and newly baked pastries. The café was decorated with varying hues of brown, white, and yellow. The seats in the middle parts of the café were arranged in groups of twos and threes around circular tables. The seats closer to the walls and corners of the café were arranged in booths with the chairs having bright yellow cushioning. Various handing and potted plants littered the café giving it the feeling of a cutesy cottage. The floorboards shone as they had probably been freshly mopped and polished. A girl in a white ruffled apron and a high ponytail asked. "We have your favorite cake in store, sir," she said, averting her gaze on her as if she just didn't ask for her order and as if he didn't just ignore them when he entered. "Really? Then I'll get two slices and coffee too, for her and mine," he smiled, motioning to Cleo. The girl bowed and said to wait while preparing their orders and Cleo silently groaned before simply looking around. The café has a retro and vintage vibe, thick books were piled on a bookshelf on the corner near the entrance and a painting of the sunflower of Vincent Van Gogh was placed beside it and another that looked like a lonely girl who has tears in her eyes.

To cancel the weird feeling of intimidation, I praise him back. "And you look good," I smile quickly and check the books on his cart. "Panda Writes? You like fiction?" "Ah, no. My sister asks me to buy this for her." "Ow..." "How about you? You are..." he is checking the books I picked "fond of reading Things You Should Know About Teenagers and Their Hormones," he reads the title completely. I smile and... what?! I check the book in my cart and it is definitely there. A book with the title Kaze read. A book to understnad kids. A book for parents. Are high school kids supposed to read that?

Pumpkin and cinnamon. "Is that any good?" Is he talking to me? I point at myself. "Are you asking me?" He blinks multiple times. "Who else would I be talking to? Do you see anyone else standing in line?" "Oh," I smile at him, embarrassed. "True..." Jason shakes his head at me, but there is a ghost of a smile glittering over his full lips. "You're seriously such a dummy..." "Sorry... But um... Yes, the pumpkin and cinnamon-flavored frappe is actually super popular. I like it."

The warm lights gave the cafe an ethereal and cozy glow. I ordered my usual honey cinnamon latte and sat on the far right corner near the bookshelves. My shift was due to start at around 9 and I had 30 minutes to kill so picked up a book on Greek mythology from the shelf while I waited for my coffee. It was a kind of place where book lovers handed out their well-loved books for this cafe, where people can exchange their recommendations and get to explore new genres. This cafe has been running for a little under a decade hence the shelves increased to hold onto the new books.
