SAMANTHA Mr. Carter didn’t speak. He just watched me from across the room, arms folded, an unreadable expression on his face. Not angry. Not kind. Just… sharp. Quiet. And somehow, that was worse. I kept my eyes on the bookshelf behind him, like maybe if I stared long enough, I’d melt into it. There was a row of leather-bound books, with titles I couldn’t make out. Some law. Some history. Some generic, intellectual crap that screamed power and wealth and don’t mess with me.

Stephen gave a noncommittal grunt, his hand finding hers in a quiet show of support. Elaine got the message and did not pull away. They pulled up to the Carter family estate. The house was ablaze with light, the mood inside as somber as a funeral. Stepping out of Stephen's car, Elaine felt the weight of watchful eyes. The Carter family's aunts and uncles, having overheard her earlier conversation, were already buzzing with disapproval. Elaine's blunt words had stirred up quite the drama. Elaine had finally gotten pregnant, but the baby was not a Carter. That much was clear.

"I feel totally safe leaving my work in your hands.” "Thank you for understanding too.” she replied, looking up at him. Hidden across the street, crouching low between two parked cars, a man lowered a big camera. The sound of pictures being taken was completely muted by the loud noise of the traffic. Neither of them had any idea that a camera had just caught them standing close together, smiling, and leaving the restaurant together in the dark. The photographer slipped the camera into his backpack and disappeared quickly into the dark alley.

"Did you really think I would come here unprepared?" Greg spoke as if he felt no pain. His pale hand was holding a black handgun, aiming right at Tyrone. Tyrone didn't even blink. His condescending gaze looked down on Greg. Suddenly, he let out a cold laugh as he moved like a bolt of lightning. Heather was so anxious that her heart leaped into her throat! Before she could grasp what was happening, the gun was in Tyrone's hands. He lowered his arm, the black muzzle now pressed against Greg's injured knee!

Is there a problem,Mr Greene" Mike asked as he looked into the car. "Just get in silly. Don't act like you don't know me. C'mon get in. Benson wouldn't say anything about this, don't worry" Mr Greene assured Mike and he got into the car. "What did you want to talk about sir" Mike asked as the car parked in a place far from Benson's house. "Get out" Mr Greene said to his driver who obeyed immediately. "Is there a problem sir?" Mike asked again. "There's no problem,son. I just have a very important job for you. Look at this person,you know him?" Mr Greene asked as he showed Mike a picture.
