Mila asked Lily while yelling because of the loud music the DJ was playing, and Lily nodded without uttering a word. “What's the first step?” Lily asked Tessa, who was roaming her eyes around, hoping to see the man they were eagerly waiting for. “I haven't seen him yet. I hope he won't disappoint the club today. Let's wait for an hour, the game begins the moment he steps in.” Tessa yelled and Lily nodded. “I can't wait to begin.” Lillian whispered, and they walked to the bar and sat on the stool. “What do you want, ladies?” The bartender asked while smiling sheepishly.

I looked across the entire room. “And one more thing. Everyone standing here tonight, remember this. The Leon family can replace a district boss. It can replace drivers, lawyers, mistresses, accountants, and even the groom at a wedding. But the rules do not change. Anyone who tries to use this family as a ladder to climb up the ranks, I’ll break their legs.” This time, every single person lowered their head. I knew this fight was far from over. And underneath, a question: Do you want the man who makes the rules or the one who breaks them? I stared at it for hours. Then I did something I swore I wouldn’t. I wrote a rule of my own. RULE 9: You’ll both come to my room tonight. But only one of you will be allowed to touch me. The other must watch. And I slid it under both their doors. Now I wait. Naked. Plugged. Blindfolded. One will come first. The other will arrive later. But only one of them will win. “In a house with too many secrets, the final rule is the one that breaks you.”

In one swift motion, the person grabbed her wrist, and the knife clattered to the ground. Vivian barely had time to react before a flurry of more than ten sharp slaps rained down on her, sending her sprawling to the ground.

Holding my rulebook, I stormed toward the chairman and threw the book down hard on his desk. “Show me, exactly, where in the rulebook it says that a wolfless cannot compete,” I said. The chairman’s condescending smile slipped right off his face. “It’s implied.” “It isn’t stated anywhere in there,” I said. “You cannot make up rules that have not been voted on by a committee a year in advance. That itself is a rule in the book.” The chairman sneered. “A rule we will change in the future.” “But one you can’t change now,” I said.

“You’re impossible!” He grinned, holding her close, his arms unyielding, his kiss brushing her cheek. The sea breeze curled around them, warm and salty. Lily rested her forehead against his, her smile bright and unguarded. In that moment, with the world safe and the night quiet around them, she whispered happily: “It’s his rules… it’s his style.” And William’s grin deepened as the waves rolled on, carrying their laughter into the endless dark.
