Chapter 2.

Lillian began to walk a bit further, and she sighted a shop across the road. Suddenly, she tried to cross to the other lane, and the next thing she heard was the loud horn coming from a car.

She flinched and fell to the ground while her trolley rolled to the other side.

Her heart kept racing and for a minute, she thought she was dead, not until she heard a voice that seemed far, and then it came close to her ears.

She slowly opened her eyes with her hand on her chest and she roamed them around only to notice someone standing close to her.

“Miss! Are you okay?” The masculine voice questioned, and she stood up and moved over to her trolley to pick it up.

She dusted herself and turned to a man dressed in a blue suit, he was tall, and had brown hair with green eyes.

For a second, she was lost staring at him, but she quickly jerked back to her senses. “I'm sorry, I was too fast. Are you hurt?” He questioned.

“You almost killed me. You should drive gently, especially when this is a road for both kids and adults.” Lillian spat and dust herself.

The man tried not to get angry with the fact that he was at fault, and he had apologized already.

“Why are you trying to make it a big deal? I apologized already.” Carson spoke in annoyance and inserted his hand into his pocket.

“Yes, you did, but that doesn't mean I won't tell you a piece of my mind.” She whispered rudely and rolled her eyes.

Lillian picked up her trolley and began to walk away, while he shook his head angrily and hopped into his car.

She quickly dialed Mila's number. Mila and Lillian have been friends right from high school, but Lillian was actually contemplating if she should go over to her place because she wasn't staying alone.

There was this crazy girl who lived with her. Lillian still finds it weird that Mila had maintained friendship with the girl.

Her name is Nora, she is the pure definition of rude, and they don't really blend with Lillian though the two had never argued or fought, but she could sense it from the way she talks.

“The price I have to pay for leaving home.” Lily uttered and suddenly, Mila picked the call.

“Hey, I'm stranded. I had a fight with my parents. Can I come over, please?” She pleaded without giving Mila the chance to talk.

“Of course, but you know Nora is still around, huh? You two have to ignore each other's angry moments.” Mila warned and Lillian sighed.

“I know. I don't have a choice but to let peace reign. I'm about to stop a cab, expect me in thirty minutes.” Lillian spoke and ended the call.

She waved a cab she sighted coming her way. “Where are you headed?” The weeny man asked.

“New Valley. Miami street.” She whispered, and he asked her to hop in, and she quickly got into the car.

Lillian kept the trolley by the side and rested her head on the back seat. The drive was filled with silence, and the moment he spoke was when she got to her destination.

Lillian paid the man and moved to the house opposite the lane she was standing. She knocked gently and Nora opened the door.

“Come in!” Nora said plainly as she moved away from the door, and Lillian felt that was not a good way to welcome someone.

Suddenly, Mila popped out from the kitchen, she was wearing a diaphanous dress which was revealing her undies.

“Hey girl, cheers to the girl who is no longer a mommy's girl.” Mila teased and hugged Lillian.

“Stop it okay. A Lot of drama has happened already.” Lillian whispered while faking a frown.

“Go get some rest while I make something for lunch.” Mila added and Lillian moved to the bedroom while dragging her trolley on the floor.

She removed the things she needed and went into the bathroom for a quick bath. When she stepped out, she met Mila in the room.

“Hey, how have you been? You look exhausted.” Mila said and sat on the bed.

“I am. I had to wake due to my parents arguing and then the marriage talk. I still met a jerk who tried to run over me on the road.” Lillian bellowed and Mila laughed.

“Girl. You need to rest. Jeez! Your day was indeed terrible.” She added and stood up.

Lillian had taken a nap after eating lunch, and she turned on the bed while trying to adjust her position. “Are you leaving soon? How about dinner, huh?” She heard Mila asking Nora.

“I have to meet someone before work time. Bye.” Nora added, and then Lillian heard the sound of footsteps leaving the room.

She yawned and stretched herself. “Where is she going?” Lily asked curiously, and Mila flinched a little.

“Can you give me a warning before you speak? Heavens! I thought you were asleep.” Mila uttered in a soft tone and moved away from her wardrobe. “She is going to work. She works in a club, as a stripper.” Mila added.

“For real? It's obvious!” Lillian found herself voicing out.

“What's obvious?” Mila inquired in an arched brow.

“She is always acting catty. You need to see the face she held when she welcomed me earlier.” Lillian muttered and Mila chuckled.

“She has always been that way. Have you gotten a job already?” Mila queried, but Lillian shook her head.

“It is frustrating. These past months have been hell. I'm still waiting for feedback from three companies.” Lily stated and Mila nodded.

“We can get a spot for you as a stripper before then. Nora earns well,” Mila nudged her.

“Don't even dare!” Lillian warned.

“What? It is a cool job. All you have to do is learn the rules of the game. Get a stage name like “Lily baby” you actually know your curves are killers, men will go crazy.” Mila spoke in a serious tone.

“That stage name sucks, and it is a No.” Lillian whispered and Mila smiled.

They moved out of the bedroom while talking on random stuff and of course about the man Lillian had dated in college.

“What? Did you see him recently? I thought he moved to Italy.” Lillian declared with a puzzled look on her face.

“Girl. He looks loaded, I guess Italy suits him well.” Mila voiced out and kept the tray on the table.

“His father is a businessman, what do you expect from an heir of a billion-dollar company, huh?" Lillian whispered and rolled her eyes.

“I still can't believe he broke your heart after he made us believe he was the one. That man was a complete asshole.” Mila cursed and sat on the chair opposite Lillian.

“Please, can we change the topic? My head aches while remembering his face.” Lily begged and Mila nodded.

Lillian's thoughts drifted to the time she had the best moments of her life. That person made her believe in love and also was the reason she stopped believing in love.

He broke her heart and called her names when she caught him with another girl on his bed.

She would no longer let anyone play with her feelings like that. She will have to be a bitch when it comes to that-Lillian whispered to herself.
