Bloodline of shadows
I try to move, but my feet sink slightly into the ground, as if the forest is deciding whether to let me go.
Then I feel it.
Silver eyes.
They glow between the trees, dozens of them, appearing one by one. Not attacking. Not blinking. Just watching me in complete silence. I can’t see faces, only the eyes, calm and ancient and heavy with judgment.
I want to scream, but my voice won’t come out. I want to run, but something deep inside me tells me not to.
Like the forest already knows my name.
