Ronan ordered, placing himself in front of me. A shadow dropped from the rooftop. Steel flashed. I screamed as Ronan shoved me aside. The assassin moved fast—too fast for human eyes—but Ronan was faster. He caught the attacker mid-lunge, shifting partially as he slammed him into the stone wall. Bones cracked. The assassin laughed. “You’re too late, Alpha,” the man hissed. “The Moon has already chosen.” Ronan ripped his throat out. Blood sprayed across the courtyard.
